Learned of this place via Fox59 and tried it out on a Sunday afternoon with my wife and son. It's in the middle of a strip mall on the northside of 96th street between the Allisonville and 69 exchanges. When you enter the front door, you're immediately in the dining area which is a singular storefront's width that includes booths for parties of 4 along the side walls and table and chair combos along the middle. The worker behind the register at the other end of the dining room indicated we could sit anywhere, so we chose a booth down the far left side, which wasn't overly wide, but sufficient for our group of 3.
Menus, a bowl of chips and a larger-than-expected bowl of chunky salsa were quickly brought to our table with a friendly greeting. About a minute later, our drink order was promptly taken. The menu is extensive and includes food and drink specials for each day of the week.
My wife's standby is Huevos Rancheros (9.49), for which she always orders her eggs well-done/hard. They were prepared properly (which seems like a 50/50 success rate in our general dining ventures) and she said they included 3 eggs and were good.
My son ordered one of the Sunday specials, Molcajete (normally 25.99, but 22.09 on Sunday). It was served in a large bowl that looked like one they typically use for preparing guacamole table-side and was stuffed over the top with what seemed to be half of Noah's ark. He said it was good, stuffed himself, and probably brought between half and 2/3s of it back home.
I selected Plato Loco (16.99), primarily because it was a combo that included a chile poblano. To be honest, the chile was just OK and not one of the better ones that I have had. The half dozen decent sized grilled shrimp they served on it were pretty solid though and the side of rice was fine. The star of the show was the steak quesadilla that was part of the combo. It was RIDICULOUSLY good. After my 1st bite, I offered a bite to my son who agreed it was the best thing he ate, and that was after tasting half of Lorne Greene's wild kingdom.
We live in Westfield, so we have to brave a buttload of traffic to get here as it's not that close to us. However if we're in the area again, I would not hesitate to return and order the steak quesadillas in particular. In fact, it's probably best they aren't that close to us because I'm pretty sure there's no way something that tastes that good is at all a positive on the health...
Read moreMy wife and I dined here for the first time this evening.
I have nothing but great things to say about this place.
The dining area is warm, inviting, and clean.
The waitress was very friendly, attentive, and checked in as needed to make sure everything was going well.
The food was straight fire!
Chips and salsa are provided upon being seated. The salsa probably would be considered spicy by some, but we enjoyed the heat level.
We came for the tacos.
For dinner we ordered 2 asada, 1 chicken, 1 campechano, and 1 pastor taco.
Asada tacos is always a good starting point when judging tacos in my opinion. As many places are very dry. These asada tacos were not that at all. They had good seasoning, moisture, and were garnished with that heavy onion and cilantro as expected. Put some of the table salsa on it, hit it with a little of the salsa verde, and squeeze the fresh lime!
The campechano taco…how can you go wrong when you take the steak taco from above and incorporate chorizo with it and create the campechano! The chorizo has great seasoning and spice level. Excellent taco.
The pastor taco. The pastor taco is a growing favorite style for me. A heavily seasoned pork that is balanced with small pineapple and garnished with cilantro and onion. It is a great Hispanic dish with a Hawaiian pineapple flare. It is freshness between two corn tortillas.
We were too stuffed to eat the chicken taco onsite, but I got it in a box for lunch tomorrow.
We had ordered a small guacamole. It is not your normal mortar and pestle smashed guac. It is thinly sliced avocado, with diced tomatoes, diced onion, and hit with fresh lime juice. It is EXCELLENT. It is like avocado ceviche!
We had read reviews prior to going and saw high marks on the churros. So, we got those to go as well. Beautiful presentation with piped whipped cream, strawberries, the churros, and some vanilla ice cream. It also came with chocolate dip and sprinkles!
The manager/possibly the owner was onsite and very welcoming when we stepped through the door, checked on our table, and thanked us at the end for our support.
This business deserves to have every seat filled, based on my experience, and based on the quality of...
Read moreEditing this to say this is still my favorite taco spot. It’s been 10 months and we still continue to come here regularly and we’ve brought tons of friends who also love it and now ask us if we want to join them. So 10 months later and they are still just as amazing as the day I tried them for the first time! All of their salsas are homemade. I also order a Paloma when I go and it is amaaziiiinnng. We love them 👌🏻
New taco spot for us! Taqueria Rosales is incredible. We walked in and had no wait, the server was over almost immediately to take drink orders. The chips and salsa were awesome. The chips came out warm. We had the asada tacos and I believe the other item we ordered was called pollos supremo. The tacos were some of my favorite classic asada tacos I’ve ever had. They also brought out two different sauces to serve with them that were great! Loved the salsa verde! The pollos supremo was chicken and mushrooms in a mushroom cream sauce, kind of quesoish but mushroomy, idk how to explain but it was amazing. We scoped that into taco shells with tomato and lettuce and it was soooo good.
We could not stop saying how much we loved the food while we were there. The restaurant was also super clean as well.
Will absolutely return and highly recommend...
