I've been here a few times now since the reopening and here are a few takeaways... The Good- They spent a lot of time and money in redoing the interior and it looks fantastic. Very clean, well decorated, and the atmosphere is perfect for a sports bar. All the TV's they bought for the place are top notch. I look forward to seeing what they do with the lounge. The food is pretty good, although I'd say it's 10-15% too expensive. Not terribly priced for midtown Indy, though. I had their deluxe pizza and I thought it was very good. I would also recommend the chicken nachos. The kitchen has a tendency to get a little backed up when they're really busy, and you might be waiting a while, but not too bad. The servers/bartenders all seem to be friendly, but spread way too thin. The tap wall is AWESOME. Highly recommend trying it out, especially on Sunday where it's 25% off. Good stuff.
The Bad- Service can be pretty hit and miss, especially when they're busy (like on gamedays). There will be increments of 10-15 minutes where nobody even stops by the table. I don't know if it's because they don't have enough people to cover the shift or not. These days it's hard to tell. I can't say the service is bad, though, because when it's good, it's really good. Earlier I mentioned all the new TV's they added, and they're great. However, all the awesome TV's in the world won't matter if you don't have someone who knows how to use the channel selector, and how to correctly disseminate the NFL/College games. I think the managers need training on how to properly set up which games go on which TV's PRIOR TO OPENING. You should never have the same game on two adjacent TV's. I know that you won't please everyone with whatever games you're airing, but having a diverse offering of games available is crucial in a top-notch sports bar. I'm sure they're paying a lot of money in cable bills, so they might as well get their money's worth and give the patrons what they want.
Overall, I've enjoyed my times here. The drink/food specials are great (especially on Monday), the place looks amazing, and the staff is friendly. I think they still need to iron some things out (learning how to use the channel selector), but I'm glad to have them in the neighborhood, and I'll continue to...
Read moreNot sure how this place has 4 stars. When it first opened, the food was great and the service was good. Went several times after and the food somehow took a nosedive and the service was abysmal. The pizza king addition looked promising as well and that was also abysmal. Not sure how anyone can feel okay serving cold undercooked za. Someone else compared it as similar to frozen pizza. I honestly would say frozen pizza should be offended. Sure frozen pizza is inferior but a red baron is far superior to what we had. I'm not above it, I love a good red baron lol. I'm not even an out of touch geezer either, or a Karen, or what not. I had two squares and literally stopped and threw the rest away. It was one of those equations where it's like don't waste the calories on this, it's embarrassing. It honestly gave me the "ick" if you know what I mean. I hope no one is taking pride in that pizza when they serve it. If you do, reply and we can chat. I worked in the food industry for much of my youth including pizza joints. I know how pizza should taste. There is something wrong going on there. Hell the pizza joint I worked at in my college days at Purdue only had good cheesy bread so I know from experience what's probably going awry back in that kitchen if...
Read moreWe loved the former restaurant that was here, especially their food. We were optimistic today when we finally decided to swing into this place and try it out. I’m sad it wasn’t what we expected.
It was seat yourself style seating, love that. We had a kid so we sat in the family dining area, and had the room to ourselves. Took a while for us to be seen, not a big deal. We weren’t in a hurry.
The server was pleasant and kind and attentive. We ordered the chicken croquettes and the avocado egg rolls after reviewing the menu (and the $$$ for most items). And noticed there wasn’t a kids menu, or we weren’t given one.
That’s when things kind of fell apart. The food took awhile despite the slowness. The egg rolls were… okay. The avocado was brown and mushy. And the fried wrapper it was in was soggy. We ate two of the five and that’s about all we could do. The chicken croquettes were disappointing. I could be wrong but after 20 years in the service industry, I’d bet that it’s canned chicken. And the sauce they all sat in made the bottoms weird and soggy.
Anyway - the total bill was close to $40 after tip (25%). We’re having a hard time justifying the cost to experience. We read reviews too, so this surprised us.
Anyway, that was our...
