To start, I was accompanied by a person I don’t like, 😆. However, first time dining for dinner, and the food was amazing!! We ordered drinks, Riesling and Moscato, for our drinks with waters and no lemons which were also superb! I will suggest passing on the dessert. I ordered the New York Cheesecake and it came out ROCK HARD I could barely put my fork through it with whipped cream covering the top. After removing the whipped cream, the cake color was tinted as if it was old. Waitress was kind enough to work through this for me, but do not recommend this desert.
I will say. Upon arrival, it is not very appealing and they do not make any special effort to show you the “ropes.” They pretty much expect you to know how things work there. Fortunately, we were not slammed with a line of folks behind us, which allowed us to take our time and read the many signs posted nearby without having any pressure. End result: Absolutely recommend! We will be back. I suggest going late afternoon ish to get started. We noticed as we were leaving, there was a line out the door towards the later hour.
Will suggest some dining improvements as we were seated right were the brooms and mops were stored, laying on the floor all Willy Nilly. It’s apparent this place is popular but not for the fine dining aspect and more for the convenience to pack literally everything you can fit in your bowl for a fair price.
Our two yummy bowls, 3 glasses of Riesling and 2 glasses of moscato rang up about $59 and some change.
Ps. Kudos to the guy that prepared our bowls! He was super friendly and blended the heck out of...
Read moreI have been craving Mongolian Barbecue since I moved to Indy from SoCal. If you've never had it, you have to go. It's an experience and an amazing meal wrapped into one. So you go through a buffet-style lineup of fresh veggies and thinly sliced meat and fill a bowl with your favorites. Get creative. Try stuff. Trust me. At the end is an array of sauce components and instructions on how much and what to put. Again, go for your favorite flavor profiles, but don't be afraid to experiment. Now, in SoCal, you pass off your bowl and sauce to the grillmaster, who will dump everything onto this huge, round, metal, flat grill, and they would stir, flip, agitate, and otherwise manipulate the stuff as they maneuvered it around the grill 360 °. This place is set up to allow for a ton of traffic, so you drop it off, they cook it in one spot, and then the server brings it to your table. If this affected the quality or flavor in any way, I couldn't detect it. What you end up with is basically a custom stir-fry bowl, and if you have done your job correctly, it's fricking amazing. (note that it is almost impossible to find a combination of ingredients and sauce components that doesn't taste good. They're not dumb.)
As far as I can tell, this is the only Mongolian Barbecue in the Indy area, and I don't understand why. I do, however, understand why this place is so busy (see the previous sentence, plus, it's delicious). I highly recommend - to the extent that it is like 40+ minutes drive from my house, but I can't see myself going a month without visiting. This is a run, don't walk type...
Read moreLove this place. I usually don't like buffet style places, but this place is really good. One reason is they don't let the food sit out long enough to start to get bad. They're replacing things almost constantly. Everything is raw, including the meat, so be prepared for that. But once you collect what you want they'll cook it all on a really big hibachi. And even though you select the meat and put it in your bowl raw, they cook everything to a safe temperature, then transfer it to a second bowl so there's no cross contamination. I've gone here a lot and have never had any issues, it's perfectly safe. They have a lot of different sauces that you can include in your bowl as well as a rack of many different seasonings. And you can sample all of the sauces before you choose them. They also have menu items if you don't want to get the bowl, but the bowl is the best. It can get really busy and the line for the....It's buffet style, but not actually a buffet. I don't know what else to call it....but the line can get kind of long, so if you split your party, like a person or two stays at the table to watch personal belongings, then part of your table may be eating before the other people get through the line. But this is only an issue if it's really busy. And if it is, and you all want to get your food together, then everyone should go together. They don't deliver the food by table, but in the order they receive it at the grill. If you haven't tried them, give them a shot. It's one of my favorite places to go, and you can get a lot of food for a...
