We Googled a good place to eat before the George Strait and Chris Stapleton concert at SoFi Stadium and we came across Gamiño. It has a 4.8 rating so we figured we'd see for ourselves. When you first walk up, the building is older, painted a red color that makes it easy to spot, a very traditional color. When you walk in, you're in the bar are immediately and we were greeted right away. The atmosphere is instant, lighting is dim but you walk into a very traditional place. The bar area is well stocked, plenty of seating and Mexican music playing in the background make it inviting. Only thing that made it a little disappointing was that you're immediately hit with the smell of sewer. I don't know if there was an issue going on that day with restrooms or if it's because it's an older building but it made me a little apprehensive. We were walked to our table towards the back of the room and the smell was gone. People there didn't seem to mind or be deterred by it so I felt better. Our server was very pleasant and we were given chips and water right away. We looked over the menu and they serve all the traditional dishes you'd expect to find at a Mexican restaurant. I ordered the chicken flautas and my boyfriend had carne asada tacos with rice and beans. I decided to order a strawberry margarita on the rocks and let me tell you, it was Amazing!! A little sweet but a perfect combination of alcohol and sweet! I ended up getting a second one lol! When we received our food, it was made as ordered and it was tasty and very delicious!! We both thoroughly enjoyed it all, a lot! We agreed it'd be a place to visit again should we be in the area! I gave it give stars regardless of the smell because everything else made up for the temporary...
Read moreMy first time here and I loved everything I ordered. Two male servers greeted me immediately when I entered. They were friendly and put my order in the way I like. Here's what I got:
Complimentary chips and salsa. I didn't try the salsa because I can't take spicy at all (I know, horrible 😓) and my husband wasn't around to tell me how spicy it was. The chips were crispy and tasted good. There was no greasy flavor, and they're thin but strong enough to pick up a bunch of toppings. I used them on the sour cream and guacamole from my burrito.
All meat burrito with carne asada. No cheese, no beans, no rice, no salsa, no cilantro - just carne asada. Sorry, not sorry? It came with Pico de Gallo, sour cream, guacamole. The meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked. It was medium to medium-well when I ate it, but I got it to-go and I didn't have time to eat it right away. I'm sure it was even more tender and juicy had I eaten it right away. I got too full on the meat and didn't eat the tortilla, but it looked and smelled good. I like my guacamole with a lot of lime or lemon, and this was perfect for me. Very tart but not watery at all. The sour cream was thick - not the cheap kind.
Taquitos. It came with a ton of shredded lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese with some sort of sauce (I want to say enchilada sauce or ranchero because it didn't taste like salsa, but I ate it too fast so who knows). When I say a ton, I am not exaggerating - check out the picture. The tortilla was still very crispy and the meat...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. We chose this restaurant based on the reviews, and how good the food loked. However, we felt deceived and played. The food was not good at all. It was our first time ordering from here & it will be the last. No one was satisfied with what they ordered, they said it had a weird taste. The wet burrito sauce tasted like it came out of a can. I had to throw my entire plate away. Who makes their fish a la Diabla sweet? When I called they told me because theirs been so many complaints of how spicy it is, now the new sauce is sweet. They said next time let them know you want it to be made in a spicy sauce. That defeats the purpose of being called fillete a la Diabla. Maybe consider changing the name if it isn't going to be anywhere near spicy. The sweet sauce on the fish was awful, it had mushrooms and other chopped up vegetables giving it a marinera vibes. I was so disappointed with my whole order, 14 dollars for a burrito & 18 for a fish plate that went straight to trash. Will not recommend to anyone, if anything I'll recommend them to stay away and go to other restaurants that actually now what...
