They always are a highlight to visit I try to go as often as I can and tend to leave with more goodies than I intended I haven’t had a single thing I haven’t liked but that doesn’t mean I don’t have favorites I am a big fan of the mixed berry danish the pastry is always so light and fluffy with a wonderful warm taste complimented by a savory buttery flavor. And the cream cheese berry topping is just the right amount of sweet and tart. My other recommendation is the chocolate s’mores cookies I’m not certain if that is what they are called but that’s what it reminds me of. They are warm fudgy and soft with a rich but not overbearing chocolate taste. Sunshine is an amazing baker and never disappoints so whether you’re in the neighborhood or just passing near I highly recommend coming by and delighting in her amazing skills. 5/5 recommendation. Come early as this goodness doesn’t stick around.
Also they can do orders in advance just call or ahead or go in person and they’d happily make something...

To say these pastries are the best in Irondale is not doing it justice, these might be the best pastries in Central Alabama, period.
The building is a cute little spot just off the railroad tracks near downtown Irondale. You walk in, and the instant aroma of delectable goodness fills your nose. Sunshine’s spouse runs the shop on the front end, and he’s super nice and will answer any questions you have about the items available.
The pastries themselves are so, so delicious that I can’t say anything besides that because trying to describe how good they are does not do it justice. The croissants and their variants in particular have been our favorite. The pepperoni croissants are my personal favorite.
You’ve got to go and give these people your business. They literally bake happiness into their food. Highly...
Read moreThis was our first time visiting Sunshine Bakery. We'll definitely be back as the pastries were delicious! We arrived at 10:30am on a Sunday so some things had already sold out. The early bird gets the worm! We got almost 1 of everything available. They offered to warm up our pastries if we were eating there but there was a line forming once we arrived and didn't feel like sitting outside in the summer heat so we opted to take it home. There are picnic tables outside and a counter to stand at inside but it would be hard to dine in inside as that's where the line forms. It wasn't a problem for us to take the pastries home and warm it ourselves. They were very helpful with warming instructions. I would highly recommend Sunshine Bakery and try everything- both...
