As a resident of this great city, I love the train watching platform. It's a great way to relax on a hot summer evening and if you're into trains, this is the perfect spot. There are two tracks There's an old caboose across the tracks from the platform that you can also visit. The historic Irondale Cafe (famous for their fried green tomatoes) is across the street along with other businesses as well. There are plenty of benches to sit on as you watch the trains go on their merry way to their...

My fiancée and I just moved to Irondale and we love this little caboose that they decorate for holidays. The train watching platform on the other side of the tracks is a super cute spot to eat and there is a very informative sign about the history of racism and lynching in Alabama. We walked over there to look at the Christmas lights the other night and had such...

Excellent spot for watching trains. I recently visited here twice in the evening. There was not a very big delay in between trains. There's a very nice viewing platform. You're actually pretty close to the trains as they pass. I would highly recommend visiting here if you're a train lover or have little ones who...
