Went their for the first time to order food for 25 people. They mentioned each medium tray chicken biriyani serves 15 people, so we ordered two trays and was hoping 30 people's amount of biriyani would serve 25 people very easily. Shockingly the food was not even enough for 20+ people. About 15-18 can be served with this amount of food. We were short of food even though we had 8 kids among us. They put only around 22 pieces of chicken in total(combining two trays) in the biriyani whereas when we ordered food equal to 30 people's, very logically we thought there should be atleast 30 pieces of chicken. Also, we ordered for Salad and they mentioned they will give it as complimentary. But what they gave was good for 10-15 people max. We were in hurry, so couldn't get enough time to order and get extra salad. I wish they didn't mention about providing complimentary salad with 30 people's biriyani, we would have ordered for enough salad in that case.
But the worst is when I called to talk to them regarding this, the person was not at all supportive and was not sorry at all for what happened. He kept on saying like these: "it can happen, we don't count chicken pieces",(Whose fault is that!) "you should order other foods also, only ordering chicken biriyani for 30 people might not be enough for 30 people!!!!"(I don't know what logic is that! 30 people's biriyani should at least serve 25 people! we did order enough kababs also beside the biriyani). "We don't even give complimentary salad usually! So you can't complain about salad"(I wish I didn't buy that complimentary salad thing other than just ordering enough salad for 30 people). Very simple logic...when we want 30 people's food, give us 30 average people's food, not less, not more.
Also, the person kept me on hold for few minutes in between our conversation!! The way he was talking showed that he doesn't care whether we faced issue or not.
We went to Texas King because we saw good reviews about their food. But what they lack BIG time is customer service and for sure this is not the place to order...
Read moreAs a Muslim, I can understand why other Muslims would rate this place high. However, it's my obligation to be fair, just and honest ... even with my fellow Muslims.
The location of this place makes it ideal. It's not too far from the Masjid/Mosque and it does have reasonable prices. However, I've visited this place more than 6 times ordering the same thing and expecting different results. Unfortunately, it does not happen.
Each time, I order chicken biryani. And each time, usually after Friday prayer, the wait is north of 45 minutes. My last wait was almost an hour. That's not the worst part. The plates were not full. My family would argue that they were barely half full.
The individuals taking your order seem to do so haphazardly. Simply put, they are not big on listening and giving you their undivided attention. The result is what seems like bad service; although, on that front, it's not the case ... it's simply that perception.
I've ordered qurbani from them for Eid al-Adha. No matter the instructions, they still did their own thing. Again, not listening. They didn't begin to divide up your order and put it in a box until you came in ... even though you've already prepaid (sometimes with just a hefty deposit). You better open up the box and get them to re-cut something they way you ordered it and check that you have all that you ordered ... not because of something missing; rather, you'll get all the meat that you paid for, but I feared I'd get more leg than anything else. I simply wanted a whole lamb and it be cut up in chunks of 3 ... to follow the Sunnah and divide it up accordingly. Nope. Didn't get that.
The qurbani is another matter. But it demonstrates a point here. My advice (tl;dr): Get their attention, may have to repeat yourself, expect to wait, check your order, challenge it if...
Read moreAuthentic Pakistani Cuisine at Its Best!!!!!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Texas King restaurant Irving and it was an experience that truly captured the essence of Pakistani flavors. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The décor was simple yet elegant, with touches of traditional Pakistani culture that set the stage for a memorable meal.
Food: The menu offered a wide variety of classic Pakistani dishes, from hearty stews to grilled meats, each bursting with authentic spices and flavors. I started with the samosas, which were crispy on the outside and filled with a perfectly spiced potato and meat mixture. For the main course, I tried the mutton karahi — a rich, flavorful curry with tender chunks of mutton cooked in a fragrant blend of tomatoes, ginger, garlic, and fresh cilantro. The depth of flavor was incredible, and the dish paired beautifully with freshly baked naan.
I also sampled the chicken tikka, which was wonderfully smoky and succulent, showcasing just the right amount of spice without being overwhelming. For dessert, the gulab jamun and kheer provided the perfect sweet ending: soft, syrup-soaked, and perfectly balanced in sweetness.
Service: The staff at Texas King were attentive and knowledgeable, offering recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed. The food arrived promptly, and the portions were generous, making it great value for...
