Brightmore why did you invest the money on all the registers up front. You could've used some funds on fixing the huge holes in the ceiling that leak every time it rains. And then later on worked on changing the layout and buying new registers.
The assisted check outs make no sense - either you're full self checkout or you're not.
Staff members scan things and then just walk away or are in my way while I bag my things. Like MOVE or HELP me bag????? I don't know.
Or if they do just walk away after they scan my things... like what was the point? I could have done that myself. If someone wants to steal, they're stealing before they even come up to the register.
With the registers so close together it's too crowded up there. I'm suffocated while bagging my stuff and pressed up against someone else's shopping cart and a staff member. Or people's kids are in the way of the bags on my register. Not anyone's fault but Brightmore. There's just NO space to work with.
But honestly, this is not on the staff in store. I know this is all instructions from upper management. I never had a problem with staff before the company got bought out.
I pretty much just look at the toys. So this is about the toy section only -- the new layout is not good. The wall of toy bags used to be consolidated, but now the entire grid wall is mixed up inventory. The crafts, seasonal, toys, and miscellaneous all on the same hook... it's so inconvenient as a shopper.
I've been annoyed at all this for weeks now. I was waiting for a really busy 50% off sale to really judge the efficiency of the new registers and layout of the store... I was not impressed. And I understand this is a business and not all decisions will please everyone, but I'm actually really sad to see this from Texas Thrift. I've loved Texas Thrift for about 10 years, from Austin to DFW. I'm sad to feel the decline in customer experience. I'm sad the brand sold...

If you like thrift stores or have never been to one this is where you should head immediately.
Texas Thrift Store is a very nice thrift store and probably the best one in Dallas Fort Worth. In a slightly warn down strip mall but once you walk inside it's all fresh and clean. Not new but fresh and clean. As you would expect the ladies section is easily 2/3s of the store and was full of potentially new to you clothes. My companion (aka Lady Finger) was able to find lots of cute summer dresses and even some stylish almost new shoes. I bought quite a few very we kept polos and two suit jackets ($5 a piece) for those dressy days. Green tagged items are 50% off and orange tags are 30% off every day. 75% of out items had those color tags.
Read moreThis thrift shop for years had so much variety and items I could go here and pick up dress clothes, athletic clothing or whatever I needed on the spot. I also used to always be able to go to the shelves and come out with a cool find to waste my money on. I came back and the variety and amount of stuff here went down by 5x. This was by far the best thrift shop in the area.
If I wanted pajamas I’d go in and get some, if I needed formal clothing or dress shoes I’d go in and get some. If I needed shoes I’d get that too. Today I went in to get swimming shorts. I’ve done it 3 times over the years. This was the first time I couldn’t find any.
The selection is like the goodwill down the road. Almost nothing there. Items, not bunched up like before. Small chunks of highly picked items and that’s how it is for the clothing now. It used to be a nice mumbo jumbo of clothing all slapped together. Now it’s small chunks of highly picked out clothing here and there.
I don’t know who made these decisions, I guess you guys gotta make your money, but did you not notice you turned the most badass thrift shop in the area into complete garbage?
And yes I know it’s rearranged. No big deal. I looked and for the first time ever wasnt even a selection to pick from. I like it when there’s lotsa shorts or pants next to each other and I can pick styles and stuff.
You ever watch those corny movies where corporate messes up a nice small Town coffee shop or store? This is a real...
