You asked for a witty review of "The Reserve" in Irving, Texas, focusing on its Tex-Mex food and margaritas. After some research, it appears there might be some confusion. The Reserve is primarily a name associated with an assisted living community and apartment complexes in Irving and Dallas. However, there is a restaurant called "The Reserve" that's getting great reviews for its Mexican food and drinks, with one customer even noting its "Mexican candy" drink was "top notch." Given this, I'll craft a review for a restaurant named The Reserve that delivers on the witty Tex-Mex and great margarita experience you're looking for. The Reserve: Where Margaritas Flow and Tex-Mex Gets a PhD in Flavor The moment you step into The Reserve, you know you've found a spot that takes its Tex-Mex seriously—but not itself. The atmosphere is as lively as a mariachi band on a Saturday night, and the menu is a masterclass in witty wordplay and even better food. Forget everything you thought you knew about your average chips and salsa. The complimentary salsa here is a warm, flavor-packed hug, and the chips are so good you'll be tempted to ask for a doggy bag just for them. I ordered the tacos, and let me tell you, they're not just tacos—they're tiny, handheld symphonies of deliciousness. The fillings are so fresh and perfectly seasoned, I'm pretty sure a team of culinary geniuses worked for months on the perfect flavor profile. Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the margaritas. These aren't your typical, watered-down sugar bombs. The margaritas at The Reserve are a dangerous combination of potent and delicious. My "Mexican candy" drink was a revelation, perfectly balanced with a kick that reminded me to pace myself. My companions and I agreed—they're so good, they could probably be considered a food group. The staff is friendly, efficient, and clearly passionate about what they do. They navigate the bustling restaurant with the grace of a matador, always there with a refill or a witty suggestion. In short, The Reserve is more than just a restaurant; it's a vibrant, delicious, and slightly-tipsy escape. Come for the Tex-Mex, stay for the margaritas, and leave with a newfound respect for what a good meal can be. It’s an easy five stars and a place I'll be returning to—as soon as I recover from that...

I really never write reviews unless is super bad or super amazing. I had an eye lash appointment next door that I showed up too early and so I decided to try this place out since the balloon arch outside really caught my attention. From the moment I came inside I was greeted by everyone, I was seated right away. The bartenders were super sweet an amazing. I had a Paloma and coming from Mexico it’s hard to find a place that makes amazing Paloma’s and I have to say I was super impressed with how delicious it was and I could actually taste the alcohol which is hard to find a restaurant that make cocktails that actually taste like they have alcohol. I also had breakfast tacos with a side of potatoes and the tortillas were so good, felt like my mom had made them, delicious! Because one thing I hate is store bought tortillas and these tortillas definitely tasted more home made than anything. The side of potatoes were crispy but not dry, very well seasoned potatoes. I absolutely loved everything in my plate and not to mentioned the presentation, perfect. My plate of food not only looked delicious but it looked beautiful. I also had chips and salsa and the salsa was also very delicious, which I was very impressed because normally the salsa at restaurants is watery, and the salsa was churchy and had the perfect amount of spice and taste, loved it! Let’s talk about prices. I was expecting to pay at least $40-$50 and I have to say it was way way less than that. Which was great for me especially with how expensive the world is now. The music was great, the restaurant was so clean and so beautiful, the staff was great, I was greeted by everyone which is something that is super important for me. I went to work and home and have told all my family and friends about it. So I he to come on here and write my experience. Now I have a whole birthday dinner planned for July here. Let’s see how well they manage a big group of people. Because big groups throw off a lot of restaurants, it’s happened in every birthday dinner I’ve had. So I’m really excited to see what they are about in July for my birthday. I will for sure update my review after my birthday experience. 🤗Again, thank you The Reserve for a great Saturday...

UPDATE 9/15/24 - We looked at our account and we were charged an extra $8 although I put on our receipt a very large 0 in the tip section and re-wrote the original total - $81.14. The 1 was probably changed to a 9 which is insane. We had to come back up here and talk to the manager and I asked to see our original signed receipt. He brought all of her receipts from 9/14 and ours was the only one missing - of course!! I’ve never seen anything like this. But the manager Jose was amazing and we got our money back. The food is good, management is good, they should just be careful about who they hire because that’s theft/fraud.

ORIGINAL - We came here because we loved the Dallas location but found out it permanently closed, sadly. We dined inside on 9/14/24 and our waitress was Shreya.

The service given by Shreya ruined our experience. She walked away in the middle of us talking to her and there’s no way she didn’t know we were. She barely came by to check on us, maybe twice the whole time. She didn’t ask for the meat we wanted for our tacos, she didn’t ask about the toppings we wanted on our burger. I had to stop her to ask her doesn’t she need that info. She gave off the vibe like she was tired of us asking for what we wanted to-go when we were leaving yet she kept walking away and we couldn’t finish telling her all in one go. Her facial expression looked like she was trying to hurry up and get it over with. She put the to go containers on the table when my boyfriend’s hand was out to grab them from her. She said they were out of salsa for the night and barely gave us any chips to go. And when she walked away the final time after giving us our check she looked back with a salty face like she had a problem.

Never eating inside this location again because we spent too much money to deal with service like that. To-go...

I was initially hesitant about visiting this restaurant, it seemed a bit too fancy and overrated for Trompo Tacos, but I was completely blown away. From start to finish, it was worth every penny. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between chic and relaxing. It’s the kind of place that’s undeniably Instagram-worthy with its sleek design and thoughtful details. But, beyond the aesthetic, it feels surprisingly intimate and private, making it perfect for those who prefer a quieter, more personal dining experience. Our server, Monica, was outstanding. She was always attentive, anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. She even prepared our to-go box with care, which added a thoughtful touch to the overall experience. The food? Incredible. The tacos were some of the best I’ve ever had—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The presentation was just as impressive, with each dish looking like a work of art. Every bite was a sensory experience. As for drinks, I opted for the Mezcal ranch water, and it was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly balanced with just the right amount of kick. It was clear the bartenders knew their craft. This place exceeded all expectations, and I left feeling like I had discovered a hidden gem. Great service, fantastic food, and a great atmosphere—what more could you ask for? Definitely worth the visit.

The Reserve at Las Colinas is a fantastic spot for happy hour, offering a perfect mix of stylish ambiance, creative cocktails, and delicious bites. I started with the Spicy Passion Fruit cocktail, which was an absolute standout. The balance of heat and sweetness was spot on—the passion fruit added a refreshing tropical brightness, while the spice gave it just the right amount of kick without being overwhelming. It was smooth, well-crafted, and dangerously easy to sip. To pair with the drinks, I ordered the Queso Fundido, and it did not disappoint. The melted cheese was rich and gooey, with a deep, satisfying flavor that made it impossible to stop dipping the warm tortillas that were served alongside. The atmosphere at The Reserve is upscale yet relaxed, making it a great spot to unwind after work or kick off a night out. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the happy hour menu offered great value for the quality of food and drinks. Overall, The Reserve at Las Colinas delivers an elevated happy hour experience with bold flavors and expertly mixed cocktails. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their menu!
