Although the room and the property have been nice, the front desk staff leaves much to be desired. Upon our arrival, we were NOT greeted by a smiling, friendly front desk representative. She was cold, unprofessional, and uninformative. She was rushing through our check-in to get back to the personal call she placed on hold to take care of us. She never gave us information about breakfast, the internet, or even where to find the elevator, until we asked. For a front desk representative of a Hilton property, her dress attire was shabby and unprofessional as well. When we got up to our room and settled, we tried to log on to the internet. I got my laptop logged in, but barely, only one bar of signal. My friend, could not get hers to log on at all. I called to the front desk, and inquired about the lack of signal. She stated that it is most likely because we were using the complimentary internet and should purchase the premium. We came to this hotel for partially for the free WiFi, why would I want to purchase it? However, we went ahead and purchased the premium because I had online college work to do. This proved ineffective and it kept kicking us offline. The evening front desk person was helpful with the internet issue, she called the hotline number and they found and resolved the issue and credited us back the premium charge. However, she was not very knowledgeable about the area when I inquired on food establishments in the area. Other questions I asked, I also got the "I don't know" answer. As a person who has worked for over 33 years in the customer service industry and 6 years as a Front Desk Representative for Marriott and Hilton properties, I feel I am able to safely say that these two ladies need more training in customer service, learning the area around their hotel, and how to greet and provide Hilton quality service. Two things stopped us from going to a different hotel, 1. Our room was prepaid, and 2. the room is very nice. I would recommend this hotel for the cleanliness and quality of the room, however, NOT for the personnel...
Read moreMy stay at this hotel was not the best experience, but not the worst I've ever had either. I'll try to be fair - When I arrived the elevator was down for repairs, but luckily I was traveling light with one small bag so the walk to the third floor was bearable.
I believe I dealt with the same front desk clerk other reviewers describe as rude. He was kind of oddly robotic. He spoke in fast clipped sentences and didn't respond to any social cues. He didn't smile nor was he particularly friendly. If I had to analyze him on behavior alone, I would think maybe he is slightly autistic.
The room including the bathroom was clean but with the slight smell of cigarette smoke - no big deal. What I did notice was damage to the door jamb just under the handle as if someone tried to force their way in with a tool of some sort?
My key card worked fine to open and close/ lock the door but I'm not sure why management hasn't repaired this. There were also two large potholes in the hotel driveway entrance, but that's probably just me being nitpicky.
The good parts of my stay there was the free breakfast which was served daily with a good selection of food - scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, bagels, muffins, cereal, waffles and a coffee bar which was open for the majority of the day. The dining room was clean and well kept up.
I'll add that this hotel was quiet. No road noise or late night rowdiness from the other guests and the proximity to the airport (about 5 miles) was a plus as well.
If I travel to Irving again, I'm not sure that I would stay at this hotel again. For a one night stay, this hotel would be perfectly fine, but for any longer than that I might look for other...
Read moreThe front counter general manager Kim Limon was VERY VERY rude! When we arrive we had a $35 insurance protection fee that was added to the room that was not stated at the time of booking, and when I ask what the fee was for just out of curiosity because it was not in the original booking fee the General Manager Kim Limon was VERY VERY RUDE in fact she even yelled! Our tub water wouldn't drain the water after our shower, and microwave was not working. When we ask the General Manager to come attend to our microwave situation she was very rude about it, and insulted our intelligence like it was a made up lie! Then we ask could they warm our food up for us they did but the food was still cold, and then when we ask could you reheat it again they was rude about it. I would not recommend this place until they replace the entire front office staff! They was beyond rude and there was a lot of maintenance issues that needs to be addressed! People are paying their hard work earned money to deal with attitude from THE HEAD PERSON IN CHARGE "THE GENERAL MANAGER" so it explain why her staff in the front is just as rude as her!! I have NEVER encountered this type of unprofessional, rude, and classless environment in my life. DO NOT BOOK AT THIS PLACE!! You come out better sleeping in your car!! I am HIGHLY disappointed in my experience here because it was UNREALISTIC how bad my experience was! I PROMISE I CAN'T EVEN PUT IN WORDS HOW BAD THIS EXPERIENCE WAS!! I AM ALSO CONTACTING CORPORATE BECAUSE THEY NEED TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE THAT IS OPERATING THEIR BUSINESS!! AGAIN DO NOT BOOK AT...
