This particular Hyatt place (I havent been to others) was a fantastic experience. They have a pool, a large gym, and a very wholesome free breakfast (if you sign up with your email to their membership thing, takes 2 seconds at the desk). There were scrambled eggs, perfectly cooked bacon, bbq potatoes meat concoction that wasnt pretty good, a super tasty potatoes carrot stir fry medley, grapes, pineapples, blueberries, apples, bananas, strawberries, yogurt (to put it all on) nuts, and a bunch of other like toppings that all could also be used for the yogurt OR cereal. Different breads to use in a toaster that rolls it out like a pizza oven does to cook, so, PERFECT toasting. They had 4 kinds of cereal, including a gluten free option, and like four kinds of milk, including almond milk and various percentages of regular milk. Boiled eggs, scrambles eggs and 3 kinds of juices including fresh squeezed grapefruit juice AND a mini coffee bar with several kinds of coffee, which, if its anything like the coffee they put in our rooms, is even rainforest alliance certified! I do not know what these reviews complaining about the breakfast is about. There was another review complaining about storage, the closet is small but efficient there is also a two cubby storage next to the sectional couch that is also has a full sized fold away bed, a 6 cube cubby under the tv stand, three drawers next to the sink and a large cabinet in the fridge/coffee bar. So I'm not really sure what the big deal is, there id also the tops of the table/desk thing, the cabinet tops and the top of the cubby. We are a family of five and I feel like this 2dbl bed room is PLENTY of room for us. But I guess if you are super particular about having everything perfectly in it's place...even then, seems a bit of a stretch to find a complaint about storage. The staff are accommodating. We needed extra towels and blankets and it wasnt an issue. The beds are a little hard but bring an egg crate or two you should be fine. Surprisingly I did not wake up with my back hurting at all, which is not usually the case with hard hotel beds. My husband said his hurt some but like a said maybe next time we will just bring a mattress topper. They also have a charging station for electronics and the tv station has an easy hook up media station on the outside wall of the stand. Ive stayed at a hotel that was much more expensive and did not have all of these accommodations AND that hotel made us pay 20 bucks to park in THEIR parking lot. This place has NONE of that B.S. I know this is a long winded review but the last several hotels ive stayed at have been so miserable and I was just so impressed. The last good hotel we stayed at was 10 years ago at a best western in Enid Oklahoma. Every place else has been a joke since then so I wanted to be thorough on our experience. I will concur the bathrooms ARE small, at least in this room, but an added bonus is they provide women with feminine products for free in the public restrooms, which ive never seen at another hotel before and thought was really cool of them. Oh and they provide a blow dryer, iron, ironing board and heavy duty hangers in the closet that even have clips on them. Side note: I was also able to set the reservation up through our Costco benefits which may have gotten us a decent discount but I'm not really sure what the price difference is between that and a regular...
Read moreCheck in was easy, our room was clean and nice. Everything worked in our room, but the lobby/rest of the building I guess had some AC issues so it was a bit warm down there, but I mean no big deal. Travelling with my two year old and only there one night. We took her downstairs to the lobby area to kinda explore. She's a good kid so she wasnt running around or being loud or obnoxious. She basically just likes to see new things and she loves people so she was just all smiles with everyone down there. I'm not sure who she was, but at one point we were down there kinda exploring and this really nice lady...maybe a manager? Was sitting and she was very nice to my daughter and even let my daughter get one snack and one drink of her choosing from the little cold fridge they have down there. Very cool, very kind and my daughter was very happy. She got a red Gatorade and some reeses pieces. We ordered a few drinks for our room and they were very very strong lol so kudos to the bar tender. My husband even was a bit blown away by how strong they were lol, but tbh for the price and the size of the glass (it wasn't one of those rinky dink little glasses, it was like a full size water glass) it was a good deal. We went to explore the pool outside and I let her put her feet in the water since we didn't have our swim suits. A really nice family was out there too and without any hesitation the mom offered us a swim diaper so my daughter could get in the water. It was such a kind gesture. We put it on her and she got to go in the water on the steps so i could hold her and was so happy. The water was really cold which was nice on such a hot day. Also really appreciated the hot towels that were out there for when we were done. The breakfast the next morning was really good and there was a lot to choose from. I think the bar area also served starbucks coffee, they had a lot of tea options, fresh fruit, waffles (already made too so you didn't have to use a iron to make yourself) eggs, bacon sausage...the other basics. Kinda sad we had to leave, but def will be back to this location if we are ever in the area again. The location was nice and I never felt unsafe or like my toddler was unsafe. Everyone was very nice too. Very family friendly, I can't think of anything this place did wrong on our...
Read moreI've stayed at a number of Hyatt Place facilities over the years, and what started out as a very nicely crafted experience has descended into mediocrity, and with this facility definitely being the denouement.
The positive is the counter and service staff were wonderfully pleasant and helpful as best they were allowed. The facility was clean and well kept.
Unfortunately, those were the only high points.
Upon check in for a stay of 8 nights, the room we were assigned to had virtually no storage space. There is one very small closet with limited access and two drawers in the sink vanity. There is nowhere to unpack clothes for one person, much less two for 8 nights. We returned to the desk and were told all the rooms were the same. We asked for another stand to put a suitcase on as we were obviously going to be living out of our cases and were told there weren't any more....
On the third day of our stay a long white nightgown that my wife had hung on the hook in the bathroom was removed by the housekeeping staff. We made multiple requests for it's return only to be met with shrugged shoulders and the reply "we didn't find it". Two conversations with the general manager resulted in the same. So a $70 item of clothing was removed and tough luck. If we had taken a bunch of linens on our departure, I'm certain we would have been charged for their replacements. Unfortunately, as customer we have no ability to reciprocate when the shoe is on the other foot.
A bit of discussion about the topic has been subsequently had with the General Manager, and other than many profuse "apologies" there has been no action. There was a promise made of a certificate for two free night stays, but alas it never materialized.
What was interesting was that the facility was touting the "new and improved" breakfast at every opportunity with the caveat that you had to be a Hyatt member to partake. The breakfast was a lot of things, "new and improved" weren't any of them. Amusingly, we overheard several customers asking where the "new and improved" breakfast was. The breakfast was passable, but frankly pales in comparison to the "skillet breakfast" that was once available at Hyatt Place facilities.
So, this will most likely be my last stay at a Hyatt...
