Antojitos Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Irvington

So I placed an order from the online menu this restaurant has and I thought I could place the order online, however it was not working for me, so I decided to call it in. I spoke to a young lady and order specifically what I wanted based on the menu provided online. I sent my bf for the order and trust me I was starving at this point. When he came in the house with my food, I grabbed the food and I was ready to dig in. However, it had things in it that I didn't eat and I automatically thought it was a mistake and this was not my order. To say I was supper annoyed was an understatement. I brought the food back to the restaurant and the young lady I spoke to on the phone said that it was my order. I said this is not my order and my blk beans were missing as well. She said the specific entree I order does come with what was in my box and I directed her to the menu online that did not say that (please update the menu, especially for your non-spanish customers). She was kind enough to ask the chef to remake my order to my specifications and they even added a few fries, which I appreciated. The point of this long review is that I have never had a problem with my food when ordering from here and the one time I did, they fixed it and gave me more. I love their guacamole and fired green plantains and my bf enjoyed his food as well. As I always say, " be your own critic...

I don’t work far from here and I wanted to place a take out order. The first time I called the lady answered and asked how can she help me, I was trying to explain what I wanted to order until she stopped me in mid sentence, told me to hold on and I heard the phone hang up. I called a second time and when I said hello, she said “no English” and just hung up again. I worked in the restaurant business for years and been to many restaurants of all cultures and that speak different languages. I also speak another language myself! We try to understand each other to our best ability. I felt like she didn’t even try to hear what I was saying before hanging up. Leaving this comment an hour after Leaving I would star off by saying that I’m glad I gave this place a second chance first time service was horrible & it felt like an hour just to get food..

HOWEVER this time around I encountered staff & the service was amazing this one bartender “ wish I asked her name but she was so attentive along with another male employee earlier.. The place was so hot today that I couldn’t take it & felt like passing out.

I was a little embarrassed because I knelt well basically sat by the fan due to the fact that it was so hot but again the bartender was kind enough to check on my well being which I appreciate.

Though I will say this.. THIS PLACE NEEDS AIR CONDITIONING!!
