This is a very good antique market. I am an antiques dealer in a very small way. This mall has desirable antiques in the sense that you don't have to do a lot of repairs, painting, etc. to use them.
Almost all of the dealers have what I would consider medium to quite desirable things. They are priced accordingly--they are not too expensive for what they are. The dealers know the value of their inventory, and price it accordingly
I am not knowledgeable about many types of antiques, but I do know jewelry, especially costume and lapidary but some fine. I also have a grasp of silver, plate and stainless flatware. I know a tiny amount about a few other things but I am remarkably ignorant about many.
I am tired of going to malls where dealers in costume jewelry price it like the Hope diamond and dealers in plate price it like sterling. So if you find that many vintage stores display goods that are (dare I say it?) ridiculously expensive and out of your reach financially, Forgotten Generations is the mall for you.
On the other hand, the antiques at Forgotten Generations are not super cheap But then again you are not at St Vincent de Paul. The booths have obviously been curated carefully and almost always organized well.
Many dealers here sell costume jewelry, both new and vintage, so if that's one of the things you collect you will find Forgotten Generations very interesting. Several specialize in vintage toys and games. There's also a fair bit of glass (including uranium glass) ceramic and brass decor, again priced within reason. There are some pieces of original art as well as reproductions.
When I was there on a Sunday afternoon, the staff was great. Lisa helped me. She was happy to open numerous cases, look up specific dealers' discount possibilities, and to give me tips on where I might find specific things. When I got to the sales desk I changed my mind about something I had from the back of the store. She was cheerful about returning it, and didn't grumble or make a face about losing a sale. (I have been to malls where the staff was that uncooperative. That's enough to make me foregoe a return to those stores.)
Lisa told me that there were about 70 dealers in the mall. As a result, new things appear every day. (If you have that many dealers refreshing their stock, new items appear continuously.)
I've noticed that lots of antique malls get five star ratings from people who don't frequent malls often. I don't pretend to be an expert on all kinds of antiques but I will say I go to lots of malls. Just because a mall has "A whole lot of things!" Or "you could spend all day here!!" doesn't make it great or even one worth visiting. Believe me, Forgotten Generations is worth a visit and I absolutely intend to return.
They also have free popcorn and various seasonings to put on it. That's another way you know it's a classy place.😉
Therefore, if you are looking for a mall where dealers understand their stock, price it accordingly, and curate it carefully, you really could not do much better than Forgotten...
Read moreIt's a huge place like it's the whole basement of the commercial exchange building, it's a beautiful set up, there's different areas where individuals have consigned their own items, a wonderful smorgasbord of old and new and at fair prices. Make sure you take your time and look at all the goodies. There's not only antiques there's also soaps and candles, There's also collectibles, Pokemon to Spider-Man and ect. I could go on but to many things to mention, oh did I tell you there's was a electric cart for use for the walking impaired, there's stairs so if you can't climb them you'll have to wait til they figure out another way (theres plans in the works) 2 very helpful handsome men there that very carefully individually wrapped up each item. I only made it halfway through the store I thought it was smaller so I didn't have enough time before my appointment so next time I'll know to go with lots of time to browse, oh there's new items all the time so I can't wait...
