Flatiron Grille VERY disappointed in the treatment we received this evening. I took my husband out for his birthday. We were told there would be a short wait, 45 minutes but probably not that long. We decided to wait. Then a couple walked in, clearly with no reservation and they were sat before us. To give the benefit doubt, I asked the hostess. She said they had a reservation but I could tell she was fumbling to cover that they didn't. I sat back down to wait. She then spoke with a gentleman who appeared the be the owner or manager. Then she told the woman who appeared to be the owner or manager. BAMMMM our table is ready. Hmmm funny how that worked out. Dustin was our waiter. Everything was going great until I noticed him at the hostess stand. Both he and the hostess were talking, I can't say about what, but their eyes were focused on us the entire conversation. He actually passed our table and we were clearly finished eating, but he didnt stop. No big deal, he probably had something he needed to do, but suddenly Dustin was no where to be found. We sat, and sat, and sat until he finally showed up. I told him I thought he had left for the night since it had been so long since we had seen him. At least 15 minutes had gone by since he passed our table and looked, which anyone could tell we were clearly done eating. I was being very patient, which is rare for me, but what really burned me is that my husband said, "do you think we are being discriminated against because we're together (meaning together as a couple)". IT IS HIS BIRTHDAY! I did not take him out so he could be made to feel the way your place of business made him feel tonight. I NEVER play the gay card because I am a firm believer that if there is an issue with us, that issue is on the other persons end not ours. I don't expect to be treated better but I certainly don't expect to be treated less than any other guest at your establishment. We recently moved here and have been at your place 1 other time and loved it which is why I took him there for his birthday. He had every intention of getting dessert but was so disgusted he said he'd rather leave and get ice cream. What's really sad is your establishment is not cheap and I feel we could've had a much more pleasant experience at a fast food place and saved ourselves $100. Hats off to the chef as we both enjoyed our meals.
Edit from last night: after sleeping on it. I am not saying they were discriminating against us or that they were talking about us. These are simply our feelings and how it appeared. There are always 2...
Read moreWe went to Flatiron Grill on a early Friday evening at about 4:30. The restaurant was completely set for dinner, everything was perfectly set, the Restaurant was clean and very organized. The Temperature was just right and the music level was nice.
There were four of us. For Appetizer's we had 2 orders of the Bang Bang Shrimp, and they were fantastic spicy but not hot pepper spicy and the shrimp were huge. For entrées we ordered The burger with fresh cut shoestring fries, the Grilled Caesar Salad 10oz Filet Medium with Parisian Risotto, the Grilled Caesar Salad and Fajita Quesadilla, The Wedge Salad and the Chicken Marsala. The young man that had the Burger demolished it and said it was the best he has every had. Both folks that had the Grilled Caesar said it was great and they really liked the smokey flavor. The Quesadilla was nice with lots of cheese and beef but we forgot to have the mushroom taken off. The Filet arrived almost rare but it was quickly corrected. the meat was perfect very tender and a great flavor, the risotto was delicious but a bit dry. My wedge Salad was great the Maytag bleu cheese crumbles, chopped tomatoes, applewood ,smoked bacon, topped with bleu cheese dressing. The Chicken Marsala was okay, the marsala sauce was to thin to stick to the noodles it just needed a bit more heavy cream but all the flavors were there. We had a margarita and a few glasses of wine, my favorite red was the Unshackled Cab and it was dust in a bottle Perfect. The service was very good I believe her name was Riley
We can not wait to return to try more of the Menu. I highly recommend this Restaurant. Yes it is a bit pricey but well...
Read moreWe were a party of four at FG in Jackson to celebrate a birthday. As others have commented, Jessica was a fantastic server. Three of us ordered steaks, two filets and a ribeye. Two were ordered cooked medium rare and the third was ordered medium. All three steaks were delivered extremely under cooked to the point of being raw and cold inside. We sent one filet back to be cooked more and it still came back very under cooked. It was as if the cook timed the steaks without knowing the grill was not hot and instead of checking, he sent them out raw.
Although it was a Saturday night, the restaurant never exceeded about half capacity so being busy wasn't the issue. And we don't mind a restaurant having an off night. However, Flatiron Grille is charging prices for non-prime grade steaks that are about the same prices as prime-grade steak houses like Ruth's Chris and Mortons. For the prices FG charges, their execution should be perfect. In the end, Jessica didn't charge us for the one filet, which was the right thing to do.
A couple nitpicky side notes: First, the restaurant is way too dimly lit. Second, the restaurant menu prices are a few bucks higher than their website menu prices. Third, vinyl table clothes?
It seems FG is trying to portray an image of a high end steak house with their pricing but can't figure out the execution part of it. Lastly, in reading other Google reviews, I've noticed that the owner only responds to the five star reviews. There is not a single owner response to any one star review that I could find. That tells me where the issue is with...
