We live about an hour north of Jackson, but whenever we're in town shopping, we usually stop by this Gamestop location to browse their inventory and, occasionally, pick something up.
Over the years that we've been going here, we've never encountered any issues with anything we've purchased at this location and, overall, have had a good experience shopping there.
Sadly, we did run into an issue during our last visit. We found that this location of Gamestop had a Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver. It was also a replica of David Tennant's incarnation of the 10th Doctor, which he used during his time on the show.
Since officially licensed BBC Doctor Who merchandise is difficult to find, we opted to buy the $40 Sonic Screwdriver.
Unfortunately, when we got home to try it out, the screwdriver, which boasts lights and sounds taken straight from the series, failed to work.
The device requires 3 LR44 batteries, but they are included with the purchase. So, either we needed to change the batteries, or the item didn't work.
Before we did anything, we took the item to our local Gamestop location. They suggested buying new batteries to see if that solved the problem. If that didn't work, they would refund the purchase price.
We ended up buying three brand-new LR44 batteries. We switched out the included batteries with the three fresh ones, which worked.
I appreciate our local store offering a refund if their solution didn't work. However, the three brand-new LR44 batteries we purchased cost an additional $10. So, instead of paying $40, we were out an additional cost on something that was supposed to be included in the purchase price.
Again, we usually have good experiences here. Still, if we didn't have a local Gamestop, we would have had to drive an hour back to Jackson to resolve the issue, which, in addition to buying a new set of batteries, would have used up a tank of gas in the process.
Overall, it's a good store, but you should double-check that your item is in good working order before...
Read moreI have explicitly told the staff that their stock of World Of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria is out of date. The DLC is now available for free to all players, you automatically get it with the game, and yet they still attempt to sell it for $50. The only thing within the bundle of any value is the level boost, and even then it is very out of date and not worth $50. For players who know the game, this is no big deal, but this is a massive waste of money that a new player or a relative could buy for themselves or someone and would be a waste of money. Shame on them for continuing to attempt to sell it, even after a warning that the product itself is no longer good.
Side note: I've had several bad experiences with one employee in...
