The best Italian place in Jackson (the only Italian place in Jackson). Ok, the decor is something quite unique and you have to see it to believe it. It’s very unique in that it’s a historic home, but has Elvis rooms, etc and a light up advertisement for the Clermont lounge in the main entry, etc.
Some parts seem upscale and other seem like they’re in a strip mall Italian place... like drinking glasses with advertisements on them next to my glassware salad dish... I kinda enjoyed the weirdness of it. Parking is hiding around back.
The best part of this place is the service. The server (Rachel) was spot on and made the meal. The food was so-so. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it wasn’t authentic Italian either. My lobster bisque was great and you could really taste the lobster, as well as the spoon full of old bay on top of it (too much for me). My salmon was cooked perfectly, but again, it had old bay on top of it and it took away from the flavor. The pasta was cooked just right. The deserts were tasty, but still a little frozen in the middle. The presentation of the food was spot on and it looked great. Kudos to the chef for working with what he’s got. I’ll be back for the service and...
Read moreWent for the first time. Absolutely horrible. Started with a hair in my salad. I spoke quietly to the waitress because it is a more quiet and intimate atmosphere and I didn’t want others to hear. She looked at it and said it was just one of those “stringy things”. Ummmm... no it was clearly a hair. It happens, but why would you argue about it. Just apologize. I ordered chicken Marsala at $17. It is my favorite Italian dish. When it came it was inedible. The chicken was sliced processed chicken with pepper incorporated throughout the “chicken” slices. I could not eat it. The waitress came back and I told her I could not eat it because it was processed with pepper all throughout. Do I get a sorry or can I get you something else? No, I get the waitress arguing with me again that it is not processed! Seriously? Here are pictures to show people the $17 “fresh-not-processed-pepper-laced chicken. There was no trying to make it right, no manager coming to check, just a bill for the food I could not eat. I always tell others when I find a good restaurant, I also tell people if I go to a well below par restaurant. Yes Luckys, I will be sure to...
Read moreThe menu, at least while we were there, is largely centered on seafood. We didn't want seafood because of my wife's allergies. It definitely lacked variety for food other than seafood. The only appetizer without seafood was the flat bread pizza. It was very good, but lacked a dipping sauce. The salads were very good, but again lacked variety of dressings. The only dressing other than one with seafood ingredients was ranch, but again, it was very good. The lasagna, spaghettis, ravioli, and chicken Alfredo were again the only entrees without seafood. I had the lasagna, which did not come with a toasted bread, enjoy because something wasn't right in the sauce. However, my wife enjoyed the chicken Alfredo quite a lot. She said the sauce was well balanced and rich. We concluded the dinner with cheesecake with a drizzle of Carmen and one with strawberries. As expected, the cheesecakes were very good. The service was slow and not...
