I decided to come make a review based on our experience here. First, let me say that I’ve seen many 5 star reviews, so idk if maybe we just got the wrong food to try or what. We had to travel down to Jackson for a son to have a surgical procedure done. We decided to pick up some food from here on our way back home. When I first went inside to pick up our order, I seen that the restaurant was overwhelming busy. My first initial thought was, “the food must be good then.” Boy was I wrong. When I finally got up there to pay for my food the lady told me my total was $26. I handed her $40 and asked where the restroom was. She told me where it was and handed me $3 in change. I didn’t say anything about it at first and went straight to the restroom. The restroom is quite trashy, as well. The soap isn’t put into the dispenser, it’s laid on top of the changing station for infants, the roll of paper towels is also displayed on top of the changing station, then the other paper towel dispenser is barely hanging on the wall and propped on top of the paper towel dispenser. This is a safety hazard for any moms taking their infants to the restroom to be changed. Anyway, I go back to get the food and ask the cashier for my receipt, so I can check the total considering what she recently said and the change returned. The total was actually $36, which was fine, but I wish I wouldn’t have been given the incorrect total. I take the food and go back out to the car to eat, since our child was still asleep and recovering from surgery. As soon as we get to the car, we start digging into the food. My husband and I both ordered the hamburger steak. I got curly fries and macaroni and cheese for my sides. My husband got butter fries and rice and gravy. Also, when I called the order in I asked about a kids menu for chicken tenders and the lady told me that they offered a “snack box” with 2 chicken tenders and fries. Each meal also came with rolls. Let me just say that NONE of the food had any seasoning. Our fries were soggy and tasted like straight grease. Also, I didn’t see any difference between the regular curly fries and the butter fries. The rolls were basic and just tasted like plain rolls. The macaroni and cheese had literally no cheese on it. The gravy and rice had no flavor. My husband took one bite and was done. The hamburger steaks were also plain; we used the salt and pepper packets to add flavor to the hamburger steaks. They also didn’t have much gravy on them either. The onions were good though. It was the only thing that was good. The chicken strips were also plain. When I checked the receipt, I was shocked to see that the 2 chicken strips and fries we ordered for my kid that were considered a “snack box” were $9. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. There were so many people in the restaurant hyping it up and complimenting the food. I’m not sure if these people just don’t have taste buds or if we were just served below standard food. We had a 4 hour drive to Jackson, hadn’t eaten anything all day and decided to try Roosters out and we were beyond...

I've been a cook in a chef for many years way before I knew people were actually making money off of YouTube. I'm going to start making sure I take pictures. Roosters my daughter and I placed an online pickup order it was about 12 to15 minutes drive we made it there in about 15-20 minutes. We just wanted to try them all the food was barely warm microwave everything. The food was bland had no taste no seasoning that old cafeteria gravy I was shocked and disappointed. The garlic fries nothing garlic and buttery about them all their food was bland and no good and cold. When I saw how they package the sides stains food particles all over the containers they didn't bother wipe off. This food could have been better if the person that fixed their cared. This order was probably about $50 and no we will not be back we called they were closed we didn't want anything else this is going to affect them more. Horrible service the food they didn't care about it didn't season no Love you ought to be ashamed of yourself as far as the owner. If you have people in your kitchen that don't care how the food go out shame on you. Everything was literally microwaved lukewarm never mind the pictures online it looks better than what it taste like very disappointing and shocking after 15-20 after ordering online and then coming in we had to wait for our food for everything was cold or lukewarm. And a nasty presentation stains all over the boxes it look nasty like the person didn't even care when he bagged it up. The garlic fries you don't put anything on them so it tastes like regular fries horrible cook whoever thinks this food has no business being in the kitchen. By the way we order Salisbury steak chicken strips hamburger chicken sandwich regular fries and garlic fries immediately I started tasting I was hungry every fry was cold they had the nerve enough not to give us the garlic fries we went back no taste. Because Jackson Mississippi and Atlanta does such a poor job at answering their phones when you order. If you want to return or get your food remade without calling the corporate office. People here so petty and cheap they think you want something for free they don't realize a negative review affects them more. Now I get 50 60,000 reviews what I don't respect is they never try to make it right and send you these stupid responses online instead of making it right with...

The rate is 4.5 not 4 but google doesn’t do in between. Had a great experience at Roosters! We tried the smothered chicken and grits with mac & cheese, and the Nacho Burger with butter fries; overall, we were really impressed.

The smothered chicken and grits were the standout: flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and super comforting. The Nacho Burger didn’t even need sauce—packed with flavor, and that jalapeño bun you could taste the freshness but wasn’t as spicy as I thought which was a good thing because my partner doesn’t like too spicy. The butter fries were just as good as they smelled (which was amazing), buttery and crispy can taste the garlic and chives.

The mac & cheese was the only slight letdown but even that was decent, but didnt compared to the rest of the dishes.

For dessert, we had the banana pudding, and it tasted fresh and homemade. Loved it!

Big shoutout to Mya—she was absolutely lovely, gave great recommendations, and made me feel so welcomed. Service like hers definitely makes me want to come back whenever we touch down in Jackson, MS.

Thanks,...

This place was absolutely amazing and phenomenal. Highly recommend this location. Prices - very affordable. Cheapest thing is about $8 and most expensive is about $14-$17. The price for the quality of the food was absolutely phenomenal and well equalized. Food - the food was absolutely amazing and well flavored. Highly recommend the country fried steak. Phenomenal flavor, great frying, and my mouth is watering just thinking about it right now. The Red Beans and Rice was nice, and I'd recommend people to try it, but I'd probably try a different entree though. However, it was very filling. Venue - the venue is really cute and nice set up. It's in like a small indoor outlet shopping center type of vibe. It's really nice. Bottom Line - I intend to come back here every time we stop in Clinton or Jackson, and I am very thankful for their experience.

Roosters has been a staple for me for manny years. It is my go-to place for a hamburger! The jalapeño cheddar bun is where it is at!! It is not very spicy, just the occasionally twang of a bit of jalapeño. The chicken mushroom Swiss is also good. Two unsung heroes that don’t get enough air time are the red beans and rice AND the tomato chicken cutlet. That tomato gravy is next level! Curly fries are better that the butter fries, though neither are bad at all. Two words — Banana. Pudding. Goodness gracious, buy yourself a container of that if nothing else. The custard is homemade vanilla pudding which then happens to have bananas and Nilla Wafers in it. No prefab pudding mix here. Absolutely delish!! They often run out by the end of the day — so buy it when you place your order to begin with so no one buys it before you get yours!

I’m very much a New England yankee briefly visiting Mississippi while on business, and my hotel was walking distance from Roosters (hotel lobby advertised it at the front desk). Was looking for a takeout dinner with some local flair - Roosters was spectacular. Fried steak dinner (not something you find on menus up north) with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans. Just the right amount, extremely reasonable price, and very friendly service while I waited (not more than 10 minute?… though it was a bit quiet when I was there). Highly recommend and will probably grab dinner there again tonight. My only complaint? Wish they didn’t use styrofoam takeout containers (from an environment perspective, but maybe that’s the Yankee in me).
