Sambou's African Kitchen — Restaurant in Jackson

I couldn't wait to try this place because I've always wanted to try FuFu. So we walk into the restaurant and it is set up sooo nice. Very beautiful place with a nice atmosphere. We were immediately seated and the left. Yes we were left alone for what seemed like 30mins. Note other people came in after us and were seated and given water and complimentary food. We were seated and just left, no water, no complimentary nothing. So twice someone finally comes to our table and tells us oh your server will be right with you. Again we were left alone. I think we may have waited close to an hour, 45 min the least. Finally someone brings us some complimentary pancake balls witch were good. And we wait again...... finally the lady comes and takes our order. She takes our food order first and then takes our drink order....no big deal. When the food comes out, it comes before our drinks. We had to ask this lady 3 times for our drinks. She brings the drinks but doesn't bring mine. I'm sitting here like is it me? So finally I tell her I didn't get mine and she promptly brings it. So I ask another young lady if my kids could get ketchup with their fries and the young lady told me yes and to ask my server when she returned. So I asked and she was like we don't have ketchup. I said but that young lady said you do. So she goes and scolds her but eventually brings us the ketchup that she said they didn't have. So we eat our food and everything was either spicy or had a little kick to it witch was ok. The fufu that I got was good but it wasn't the Wow factor I was hoping for. For the most part the staff were friendly except our waitress wasn't really attentive. She was still kinda friendly tho but kind of reserved. I think it was just a long day for her. But would I go back? I'm not...

If I could give no star I would!!!! This place is a Joke!!! The pictures that's in the gallery looks like it was taken from someone else website, because the food that I purchase was garbage!!! The supposedly oxtail plate had three cut up type of things that looked like a cut up turkey neck with brown gravy on it!!!! It didn't even look like oxtails, then OMG the curry chicken plate was like dark brown goat or something!!! The pictures thats on the gallery has to be stolen, because nothing was right even the meat pies photo was completely different then what garbage we had!!! When my family bought my husband and my plates in the house we were so happy until we open our plates!!!! OMG I thought we was being PUNK, I WAS SO UPSET 😡 😭!!! My sister opened the meat pies plate ( which we purchased six) And ate one, she said " It wasn't to bad but not at all what the picture portrayed,! My sisters then take the food back and the guy takes them in the office, my sister explained the food wasn't rite at all and that she even feels nausea after eating the meat pie, This guy wasn't hearing anything that she was saying, he opened the plates, and asked did we wanted something eles, she ask for a refund and the guy said he doesn't do refunds!!! Really,,, so this man Really stole our 107 dollars that we paid!!!! My sister leaves the plates and walks out!!!!! PLEASE 🙏 DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PLACE!!!! When I first moved to MS I was looking for a great restaurant to get amazing oxtails. I’ve multiple places until I tried this place some time over the summer and the plate portions were insane for the price! Loved it. But every time I would go back the portions would be smaller and the prices would be the same. I went in the other day and got the oxtail Mac and cheese meal which also comes with cabbage, I got one oxtail for $20. The meal was absolutely to die for with flavoring and I get inflation completely, but the if the portions are going to be smaller the prices should go down as well. I sat at the bar for 15 minutes with just a menu in front of me nobody said anything until I stared them down. They used to automatically bring water and I didn’t even get a water. I was the only person in there you would think the service would’ve been immaculate since they were just standing there. Nobody came back asked if I needed anything. I had to ask for a refill on my water. The serving staff is slow BUT they dress very nice. The establishment is very clean and well organized.
