I like burgers! So anytime I can go to a "new" burger place, I'm all for it! Now, BurgerFi isn't really new. It was founded in 2011. But it's new to me, and until a month ago I'd never heard of the place. But I was traveling through Jacksonville today on my way to Orlando and it was the perfect day to visit BF.
The three in our party all ordered bacon cheeseburgers, but with different specifications. Mine came with two patties, the others got one. And there were differences in grilled onions vs. raw onion vs. no onion, tomato vs. no tomato, etc. But the basic build was the same: quality ground beef, American cheese, and bacon between two buns. But that's the same build that everyone else has for a bacon cheeseburger, so what's the difference? The difference is in quality. The meat is natural Angus beef, the bacon is thick and crispy, and the cheese melts perfectly atop the beef patty. The beef is cooked just right, not dried out like some places. And the produce is fresh and of the highest quality. So, the burger is a basic bacon cheeseburger, but the execution is top notch.
Besides burgers, we also ordered a family size fry and a large onion ring to split. We had a hard time deciding which we liked best. The onion rings are big! The onion ring batter is light, reminding me of a beer batter, and the onion slices are thick. The onion is cooked all the way, but not overcooked. If you enjoy tasting onion in your onion rings, then you will probably like these. I did, as did everyone in our group. But the fries were good too, obviously made fresh from real potatoes, and I really like that BurgerFi fries them with the skins on. They were delicious!
Besides the food, the environment was very nice, sporting a modern industrial vibe. An outdoor patio is available for seating and half the tables are shaded. We opted to sit outside and appreciated the shade on this very hot day! The employees were friendly, and the front counter person was patient with us as she took our order considering this was our first visit and we were obviously novices.
We did not take advantage of the various sauces that BurgerFi offers, nor did we order any frozen custards. However, these options are quite intriguing. Maybe next time.
All in all, lunch at BurgerFi was a great experience: friendly, competent staff, pleasant environment, delicious food, and clean restrooms. I plan to visit again when visiting...
Read moreUpdate: The last 2 visits have showed continual decline in the staff. We went yesterday (7/1/2023) and after waiting 45 min and had to ask where our food was, the food came out and the buns seemed microwaved, they were cold, the hamburger meat was barely warm. The tray under the top tray was FILTHY with salt, lettuce and not sure what else, the server put it in front of me and I had to hand it to her and say um I dont want this dirty tray, she went and got a clean one but why did I have to decline it and better yet how and why did that tray ever make it in the "clean" pile. We are still not confident they clean the trays at all after that. The manager did give us our money back, no offer of anything. We will NOT be returning to this location, it seems it gets worse everytime. I see from my original post I said we would go until the food reflected the same as the staff and we have came to that point as it's obvious the owner of this Burger Fi does not care to make it better or even "good". So sad as this was 1 of my husband's favorite hamburger places and we have recommended it many times, not anymore. Like my husband said, when you pay these prices you expect more than just sub par employees and mgmt.
The hamburgers and onion rings are very good. The staff needs to be more social and speak louder. When they bring your food to the table they act like they lost their bestfriend and they mumble what hamburger is what. It may seem small but this is about our 5th or 6th visit and the employees seem to be getting worse. Thankfully the food is still good or we...
Read moreBurger Fi was my favorite place for burgers and fries. It takes an act of congress to get my husband out of the house and he finally agreed to take me to Burger Fi. We were both highly disappointed! Normally I can't eat a full burger, but this time, it was like eating a kid sized meal. I got a single all the way with cheese, and my husband got the double mushroom burger. His two patties look like the size of one when we've gone in the past. We always get the cry/fry (onion rings with fries together) and normally between the two of us we still have fries left over. There was barely enough in one portion to feed one person let alone two! We should've ordered two orders of the cry/fry. Portions have definitely gotten smaller, too small! The $35 we spent wasn't worth it! I live on the westside so a trip to Riverside is a bit of a distance. Everyone wants to blame everything on the economy, but people are still out dining and shopping so it's not like people aren't spending money on these establishments! If you guys want to retain customers, you might want to invest in giving them the portion sizes they're accustomed to! I mean, does it really cost that much for a potato? But I guess I should mention the quality of the food and flavor right? Nothing special! The onion rings were overcooked on the outside with the inside still crunchy and the fries were little and a bit limp. It just wasn't an experience that would make me go back again and my husband is definitely...
