Read moreWe came here for the first performance since they had shut down due to Covid-19. The venue itself, is absolutely beautiful! However, there were a few things that I was not a fan of, for one, they directed us upstairs to a second bar to get drinks because the bar on the first floor was becoming backed up a bit, so we did, and then we were stopped by a very rude employee who informed us that we were NOT ALLOWED right back downstairs to the designated "drinking area" and HAD to stay upstairs to finish our drinks!! This was ABSOLUTELY INSANE to us! The few chairs that were set up upstairs, were occupied so we had to stand the entire time (in uncomfortable heels) before we were allowed to leave that area. Smh Furthermore, after we were seated, we were approached within mins, by an employee, and told that we HAD to pull our masks up over our nose, so we did, but then noticed a gentleman across from us, who not only did not have a mask on, but also had a drink (uncovered) the ENTIRE duration of the show! We were also rudely told to "quiet down" when we were having an issue with our masks and were whispering so low, it was absolutely NOT disturbing to anyone around us, as we were 6ft + away from the other patrons. Instead of questioning WHY we were whispering, we were basically just rudely shut down, meanwhile Mr. Richie Rich was still right across from us, with NO MASK and an uncovered drink in his hand. The show itself, was phenomenal, as expected! The atmosphere was nice, and relaxing. All in all, it was an OK experience. I did love being all dressed up, and the drinks were spectacular, although like any place nowadays where they can rip you off, they absolutely will, and by charging a staggering $20 for a double and $18 for a single, they definitely succeeded. I will absolutely go back though, despite the issues we had, it was still a wonderful evening, and a...
Read moreMy first time visiting the Jacksonville Performing Arts Center was not at all what I had expected. Everything was fine until we got to our seats. The floor was so sticky that it was pulling our shoes off when we walked down the row. We asked an usher if we could move to different seats ( there were many open near us) and were told to go to will call. After waiting in line we were told we could not change seats, but they would send a cleaning crew (10 minutes before the show was supposed to start). With 2 minutes to spare they tell us we can go back in. We find the floor damp and slightly less sticky, but not clean. As it dried again, it became just as sticky as before. Every shift of any of our feet made loud sticky peeling noises. It was a huge distraction for us and I’m sure for those around us as well. I don’t go out to events often and had looked forward to dressing up for something special. This was not at all the special experience it should have been, and a little customer service would have gone a long way. I am so disappointed in the cleanliness of the floor as well as the attitudes, tones, and customer service skills of most of the staff we spoke with. This was not handled well at all. It might be better to not allow drinks in if they are not able to manage cleaning up spills before they become dried and sticky messes. Overall very...
