Delicias Colombianas Jax — Restaurant in Jacksonville

They don’t even deserve the star I had to give to leave this review. I do not like leaving bad reviews but after my experience tonight & some of the other reviews I’ve read, I feel like I should speak about my experience. Other reviews stated to be aware of the racial profile and that is exactly how we felt when my family and I decided to eat at this restaurant. We love food and love trying out new restaurants, especially if they are locally owned. The service was horrible. My sister and I ordered cocktails and they stated they didn’t have mojitos so we decided, “ok, let’s order their margaritas,” they were awful. I am not sure how margaritas can taste rancid but for some reason they did. I ended up throwing up. My family & I waited over an hour to get our food after our server basically seem uninterested in taking our orders. When our food finally came out, after an hour of waiting and watching other tables who came in after us get their food before us, they forgot my chicken arepas and I had to remind the server. It tasted like cardboard. I took 1 bite of the arepa and ended up just sharing my husband’s plate bc the arepa was that horrible. After, the server came with our checks and we noticed that she added gratuity to each of the checks. There were only 6 people at our table. I was not aware that you grat a table of 6. 8 people at a table or more makes sense but like I mentioned, I felt like the restaurant racially profiled us as soon as we walked in and judged us and maybe that is why they felt the need to? My husband manages a restaurant. He knows the business and how it works. We even tipped on top of the gratuity bc we understand that’s how they make their living. I don’t understand it but I will never go back to this place to eat. It was trash. The servers were trash. The food was trash. Incredible does not begin to describe the absolute best Colombian Restaurant and Lounging experience, then look no further than " DELICIAS COLOMBIANS " !!!,,, Through our many Latin countries and the USA included, you can experience your average Latin foods, but where This fine food service Establishment out shines all the rest begins with an often spoken word FAMILIA..., in this case generations upon generations of incredible culinary delights have placed DELICIOUS COLOMBIANAS,, at the top of any fine restaurant reviewer, beginning with the ideology of what do our customers truly appreciate. As good or better than prepared at home, A comfortable relaxing atmosphere, and table service bar none. So who were we referring to when we said FAMILIA, ALEJANDRO the owner, the kitchen and service staff, his wife, his Mama, and especially all the wonderful customers. And, just few doors down in the same plaza, is DELICIAS ICE CREAM AND COFFEE. I am very disappointed, the first time I went there was with a group of friends, the food was very good, even though the service was not very good; so I went back and ordered a to go dinner, a salmon dish, trusting the place I didn’t check my order and when I got home it was a disappointing experience the salmon was burnt and dry, the vegetables were all the same color... burnt, and the potatoes were like it was the last one of the day. I wanted to give them another chance, but my dissatisfaction was more than before; anything I asked, the waitress took the order and then came back saying “ we don’t have that “, 3 different dishes, I couldn’t understand how she wasn’t aware of what was available or not, finally the one thing they had, the quality of the food was below decent, was uncooked, without flavor, another disappointment. I forgot to mention that the waitress was not friendly, like I was bothering her, she never looked up to see if the customer need it anything. The 2nd and 3rd time there, there wasn’t anything from the bakery, to mention that the silverware was dirty. I don’t know how they have 4 stars on the review, I will not coming back to that place, that it’s far from being Delicias...
