Firehouse Subs Hodges — Restaurant in Jacksonville

(April 2017) I took advantage of the Tax Day Special; buy 1 Medium (or Large) sub and get a Medium for Free! (*with purchase of drink & chips) I had been to this Firehouse only once before. I typically don't eat at sub places, not because I don't like them, but because I like the convenience factor of a Drive Thru. But! If I had to pick, Firehouse would be it. I will argue that Firehouse is better than Publix Subs, which may flabbergast some of you PubSub lovers reading this. I love the Firehouse Hero on Wheat - Roast Beef, Smoked Turkey Breast, Virginia Honey Ham, Melted Provolone and of course I get it Fully Involved. Which means mayo, deli (spicy) mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and my favorite! A dill pickle! It's probably the honey ham, but there is a subtle sweetness to this combination that I love. It's probably just as good hot as it is cold; I was on my way into work and I ate the sub throughout my shift - so over a 15 hour span. The interior and restroom was clean, the employees were friendly, my order was accurate, and the service was quick. *If you can't find your pickle when you get your sub to-go, don't fret! Check under the paper lining separating your sub from the box. I thought they left out the pickle and was upset, only to happily...

The casheir and the other staff are super friendly and helpful. Always clean. Great atmosphere with related pictures on wall. Greets you when your in the door. Great for a quick bite to eat. Menus are easy to see and order. They have subs, salads, soups, desserts, chips. After you order, your name is called and you pick it up. You can order through their app and pick it up as well. Firehouse subs has a nutritional counter on their website similar to mcdonalds. Which is great if you need to count, take away or add your protiens, calories, carbs, etc. Def check it out. Arrived hoping to enjoy a nice lunch. Upon arrival my wife needed to use the facilities as did I. All that can be said is YUCK NASTY. We hungry so we decided to continue with our visit usually a restroom is an indicator and if it bad we do not stay. Against our better judgement we ordered. The drink station was filthy with splattered syrup and it was bad. The staff lacked energy and friendliness as well they seemed more interested in their conversation behind the counter than making sandwiches. Service was slow, tables looked like they had seen several meals without cleaning and the floors were filthy with a layer of dirt and soda and spilled food everywhere.
