Nice place with ample space inside and parking. Inside and outside bar areas. During our visit the outside bar was not operating. Our service was fantastic at the off-peak time visited. I found the menu had simple food items that I found ok in some instance and good in others. One of our items was a (ground) beef burrito that was too big and mostly full of rice and beans. Even though it was grilled, it lacked the wow factor as far as presentation was concerned. This burrito was closer to a dirty-rice with beans burrito. It was difficult to eat due to its size and the italian-restaurant-style utensils provided. Our flautas were more of what I expected from this place: Reasonable size, well presented and tasty. I also found prices ok, but as compared to any other taco/burrito/flauta restaurant it is on the high side. Not sure if our complementary chips and salsa was the norm or not, but the chips were above average as compared to other similar fare places. No happy hour, no smoking area, great bathrooms and wedged among 3 cell towers. Signal shouldn't be a problem.

THE DOOR SAYS CLOSED MONDAY i literally had to catch that someone was walking out and asking “Hey are you open?” because the door's hours are wrong! and the tint on the glass is so dark you can’t see if anyone is inside either. After the confusion me and my partner were able to get a seat pretty quickly because it was kind of empty probably because again the wrong hours are listed. The ambiance of this little restaurant is very cute but very dark lighting wise lol the vibes are very chill though. I thought the service was great and the food was good but the Lupes fish taco was not the best and the whole pieces of huge onions on each taco was not my favorite but overall this is a nice place and the food has good flavor. Also the menu has no pricing likeeee at all so you’re kinda just guessing followed by confusion when the bill comes. I get this at a high end restaurant but for a taco spot? Spent $78 on like what though? I’ve never spent that much on tacos I didn’t enjoy 😤 but my partner loved his food but he’s also not very picky.

Disappointing Experience at Hightide Burrito Gallery Showed up and the place was completely empty — probably should’ve been our first clue. We decided to sit at the bar, which turned out to be a mistake. The bar area opens to the outside through a garage door, and in this heat, it was miserable. On top of that, we were constantly swatting away flies while trying to eat. The bartender wasn’t very welcoming — gave off a lukewarm attitude the entire time. No plates, no silverware, and no refills. Our food came out on flimsy trays like you’d get at a ball game for a hotdog. As for the food: completely underwhelming. The empanadas were perfectly fried — crispy and golden on the outside — but had absolutely no flavor. The chicken filling had a strange, tuna-like texture and zero seasoning. The beef tasted like a cheap taco seasoning packet mixed with water. All around a frustrating and disappointing experience. I won’t be returning.

This USED to be my fave place when I moved to Jax in 2020. We went every month without fail. About 2 years ago we stopped going because they decreased the size of their food by at least 25% and were charging more. They used to give unlimited free chips and salsa and they changed to just one order of free chips. We always got the El Jefe burrito and it barely had any meat in it. We stopped going. Last month my husband got take out here with a friend and he said the burritos were better. Tonight I said let’s give it another shot because the weather is gorgeous and we truly loved the atmosphere outside. Here are the reasons I’ll never go back here again:

  1. My husband ordered his beer and they just brought the can. $7 can for a local IPA. We asked if they had it on draft. She didn’t know. It took her 10 mins to find out they didn’t and then to bring a glass. The waitress was so confused about this request for a glass.

  2. I ordered a beer with our food order. It didn’t come until I was halfway through my burrito.

  3. No more free chips. Not even one order. It’s terrible to start with unlimited free chips and go to zero free.

  4. No prizes on the menu. How in the world do we know what they’ll charge us? I guess they change prices daily?

  5. My husband ordered the chicken dinner that was available Thursday to Sunday. We went Friday at 5pm. They ran out but our daughter had chicken, rice and beans so not sure what they ran out of. He said he’ll take the same burrito as me. His didn’t arrive so we shared mine. We finished and his still hadn’t arrived.

  6. The waitress just tells you the total without giving any receipt. When asking to see it she scrolls quickly through the device in her hand to show us.

It’s a shame how downhill this place went. The atmosphere is just so nice but with the terrible service and issues we have had, we won’t be going back. If you can look past the issues then it’s...

EDIT: Changing review to 4 stars. Although I have not dined in since the new service change, I have been getting the burritos to go and they are my favorite burritos in Jax. I love the cheeseburger burrito.

I hate to give a low rating, but hopefully they will take this feedback and improve. I have been three times and had a great experience the first two times. Walk in, order at the front, get food in about 10 minutes. The burrito was fantastic. I especially like how they grill the tortilla after making the burrito!

The third time I came, we tried to order at the front, but were told to sit at a table and we would be served (change of policy). We found a table, were brought out chips immediately, but waited over 15 minutes just for a waitress to come by to ask our drink order and deliver a menu. I waved down three different people while we waited and they kept saying someone would be with us shortly. Eventually they did come, and we placed our order. The burrito came out much worse quality than the first two times. It wasn't fully grilled and they did not include guac on my chicken bacon guac burrito. Or so I thought... when I got down to the bottom of the burrito the last few bites were entirely tortilla and guac. It was all at the bottom.

Their new policy was extremely frustrating, added about 30 minutes of wait time to receive food, and the food was inferior quality.

I really enjoyed the burritos and experience I had the first two times I went, so I am hoping they will consider changing back to the order up front...

I arrived at 6:30 pm, to meet a group, and we were sat almost immediately. They were not slammed busy, so they were able to accommodate extra members of our party at an adjacent table, so I did not think that it would be 1 hour and 40 minutes later that I received my food. I got one refill the whole time there, about fifteen minutes before I left. At an hour and fifteen minutes in, I let them know that I just needed my food to go at that point, so I paid, and waited and waited and waited. The server was the only person I saw serving in the entire establishment, except for an occasional person running food. The manager decided to stop our server and yell at him for something he didn’t do on a prior shift, while he had a tray in his hands to take to a table, only slowing the process for everyone else even more. After an hour and forty minutes waiting, I had to leave, and thank god I had a friend there waiting for our food, but they didn’t include part of my meal, and I spent over $55 for a total of four tacos, rice, beans, and some queso with meat. Tt was pretty mediocre, especially for the price. The server really was trying hard and I do not believe it was his fault for the service we received, but the managers excuse for saying the kitchen was short staffed and it was her night and she was just there for a drink and decided to help out does not make me want to return. I hope the nice server man can find a job at an establishment that treats...
