I went to Panera in Roosevelt Square on the evening of 09/17. Normally my experience is good, but yesterday it was horrible. I placed a to go order and then went to wait for it. Within a few minutes the screen reflected that my order was ready and then my name disappeared from the screen. The staff handed out four orders, but never called my name so I told the manager per the screen, my order was ready. The manager was dismissive and said, "yeah they're just boxing it up." Twenty minutes later I was still waiting for them to "box up" my turkey chilli, flatbread and salad. I started to ask the staff about my order but the manager came back before I could and said to, " give him a minute". Ten more minutes passed before the manager finally asked the staff if my order was finished. The young woman preparing the food replies, "no Andrew was doing it, it's not my problem or fault he didn't." Then she proceeds to pick up the bag with my order in it and fling it on the counter into an order of broccoli cheddar soup. I gave her a look like, you can't be serious. She put everything in a new bag, muttled "sorry for your wait" and continued to work. Due to all the issues I already had with the staff, I took everything out of the bag to make sure it wss right. I found I was missing the side of cheese I purchased. At this point I was completely over it. I had to wait thirty minutes for someone to hand me an incorrect order. The same manager who said my offer was just being boxed up offered me a cookie for my trouble. The restaurant wasn't busy. Everyone else who placed orders after me received their food with no issues. If there was an issue with mine they should have communicated that. There didn't appear to be an issue since the food was just sitting in a bag off to the side prior to being flung into a cup of soup. I definitely will not be returning...
Read moreThe security/maintenance/janitor of the property that rides around on his little golf cart, needs to be fired. One of these days, he's going to play tough guy with the wrong person/customer and be physically forced into early retirement through disability. He decided to hide behind the traffic light control box and take pictures of me sitting in my car as I was waiting for my nephew to get off work. Then decides to approach me in a false authoritative manner, when I step out to smoke a cigarette. He claimed to be "security" even though he was literally picking up litter and had absolutely no visual indication of being security. He even had one of those extended pincher things you see inmates cleaning the side of highways with. He claims that I was staring at him so I mentioned the photos he took and then lied about taking them and accused me of being on "private property, unlawfully" which is false in every which way because i simply called him out for taking the pictures. I told him that he approached me, not the other way around. If I had an issue with him doing that then I would have approached him.. I told him, but I didn't because that is his 1st amendment right to do so. He the.n said I was making it all too complicated so I responded by once again saying, "Bro you approached me!" He realized he wasn't going to intimidate in any way at all and took his walk of shame back to his golf cart so I told him to have a nice day and happy new year ...and come to find out he has apparently put his hand on my nephew not too long ago and has had MULTIPLE complaints issued about him.. so for everyones sake,, he should be fired and before a lawsuit is pressed towards him by someone less lenient that he decides to harass or put his...
Read moreThis plaza is a major location in the area, anchored by Publix. The whole property has recently undergone a major construction remodeling with many new storefronts added. There are several dining outlets here, though none outstanding, (special mention to Metro diner a local fave and the new First Watch), but very limited retail as the vast majority of units remain unoccupied. We are very grateful for the West Marine here, which we visit often. I also go to the Ulta here. Stein Mart's closing was a major loss, as was Belk-both of which had stores here and closed, leaving a terrible void in the area. I would love to see more retail fill in here.
In addition to filling in with new business, I would like to see this plaza dress up a bit more. While it is fresh and new, it is still bland and unappealing. It is really just bare, cheap, lazy, lackluster modern minimalism, with little regard to environmental ambience or character. At one major entryway there is a traffic circle which would be an ideal spot for a fountain or statuary as a focal point and how about putting out some planters and benches? Flowers? Anything to breathe life into the beige abyss. The neighborhoods that support this plaza deserve a pleasant place to shop and adding some appeal would likely attract more and better tenants.
It appears that this plaza has changed ownership again. The major overhaul was done by one ownership group, but now there are signs for a new one. Hopefully there are plans to make better use of the location and space here and build a plaza that will really serve the...
