The worst service I have ever received in the 20 years of my adult life. If I can give it minus stars I would.
I drove 12 miles to purchase pastelitos because I am new to the area and I miss my Miami food. When I walked in, the attendant (Bertha) had just finished cashing someone out and proceeded to the back. There were three ladies already inside sitting in the back I assume waiting for their order.
Seven minutes later Bertha asked for my order. There are now two customers waiting behind me. I tell her I’d like un cortadito, two pastelito de carne and two de queso. I then realize there is a posted sign that reads $10 minimum credit card charge. I ask her how much is my order and she replies it is $7 something. I tell her to give me four more pastelitos and two papa rellenas. She then tells me the total is $24.84. I’m taken back at how expensive 8 pastelitos, two papa rellenas, and one cortadito costs.
She tells me it’s fine, I don’t have to take it and she will let me have the cortadito for free. I told her no, I will pay for everything but I will never come here again because the prices are too expensive for what it is. She then started verbally itemizing my transaction and making a scene and belittling me by stating it was me who asked for the items. She then started telling the other customers in the shop how it was my fault for asking for all of the items and further stated that I woke up in a bad mood today and brought it to the store.
When she returned with my receipt and CC, I tell her not only am I not returning because of the prices but there should be more than one person helping because not only did I have to wait to be helped but the other two customers behind me have been waiting and someone else had already walked out.
She started yelling at me that maybe I should jump to the back and help her since I want to complain about it and what do I care about the customers behind me, it’s none of my business. Wow. I was was floored. I told her my comment is so she can let her boss know she needs help. And I walked out humiliated.
There was no need for her to demoralize me or belittle me. I never disrespected her nor did I make a scene. My conversation was with her and not anyone else. As I walked out of the store she continued telling the customers how it was my fault for asking for all of the items. I went back inside and I asked if she was the owner. She said she was not. I asked for the owners name and her name. She replied the owner’s name is Juan and he is currently on vacation and her name is Bertha.
I expect a meeting with Juan because Bertha‘s unprofessionalism was...
Read moreWow. Just wow. Kathy’s Bakery Café absolutely blew me away—like a moldy gust from a forgotten freezer. If you’re looking for a place that perfectly captures the essence of “we gave up years ago,” look no further. This is it. This is your Mecca.
The food? A culinary miracle. I never thought someone could make a fruit tart taste like wet cardboard and expired pie filling, but here we are. It was so lifeless, I nearly checked for a toe tag. The one lone strawberry on top really pulled the whole crime scene together. Bravo, Chef. Michelin stars are shaking.
The coffee? Exquisite! Who needs flavor when you can have hot milk with a vague hint of bitterness and shame? My “cappuccino” tasted like someone yelled the word ‘espresso’ at a glass of warm water. I didn't drink it—I studied it. It belongs in a lab, not a café.
The ambiance? Picture a retirement home lobby with fewer amenities and the smell of mild despair. The bathroom was “Out of Order,” which is totally fine—who needs modern plumbing when you have canned peaches on pastry? I'm sure the health department is this close to giving them a medal.
The service? Electric. The staff moved with the enthusiasm of DMV employees on sedatives. I half expected someone to ask me if I was lost. There’s something special about paying $8 for a dessert and feeling like you’ve inconvenienced everyone just by existing.
To Kathy (the legend herself): Your café is truly one-of-a-kind. Not everyone has the vision to take a bakery and strip it of joy, flavor, freshness, and functioning restrooms. You've done what few dare to do—create a place where every bite makes you reflect on your life choices.
Seriously, though, if your dream was to open a sad corner of culinary purgatory—congrats....
Read moreI’ve never experienced such horrible customer service in my life I am speechless. The food quality is not bad, but the owner I assume that she is (lady with blonde hair) is rude disrespectful and her l attitude deserves a slap in the face. So I dropped by the bakery to buy some pastries and bread on Friday 6.27 around 320-3:45 prior to my dr appt. @4 bought a box of potato bread which had 6 of them come Sunday 6.29 the bread was full of mold I called them on Monday 7/1 no answer looked on google notices they’re closed Monday’s & Tuesday that’s fine I had my mother call Wednesday’s advising of the issue with the moldy bread she said to bring it. Now MIND YOU I HAVE MY RECIEPT & I’m not asking for a refund I would just like for the item to be exchanged. I come in today 7/3 and I give the lady the bread and try to show her my receipt that’s clearly dated & JUST STRAIGHT OUT REFUSED TO EVEN LOOK AT IT & ACCUSES ME OF LYING & THAT I DID NOT BUY IT ON 6/27 INSTEAD THAT I BOUGHT IT 2 WEEKS AGO SO BASICALLY MID JUNE. I’m like ma’am you’re incorrect I came on the 27th LOOK AT THE RECEIPT & IM insisting on her to look at my receipt, she still REFUSED TO LOOK AT IT & REFUSED TO EXCHANGE THE MOLDY BREAD but yet they had multiple fresh ones displayed. I kept trying to give her my receipt because I only want the item exchanged but instead I WAS KICKED OUT & was accused of lying (even though I have a receipt) & that they weren’t going to exchange or do anything that I need to learn how to better preserve the bread that I can’t expect to buy something in mid June and for it to...
