I've been to just about every Mayday ice cream shop that they have open currently.... Honestly, these guys have me won over. I have no ties to the place at all...I will tell you this though, I have been to three locations in Jacksonville and one of the two in Saint Augustine. When you go into Mayday ice cream you're not just getting amazing ice cream... You're getting an experience. You're getting a quick snippet of history about the company, REAL information about the flavors. You're being informed about their other locations that may be more convenient for you. More importantly, you're getting a great attitude and an enthusiastic smile from the employees. You're receiving professional, courteous service from a person that cares about their job and likes to interact with people and believes in the product that they're selling. I know, I know, it's just ice cream... 🙄....but that's just it. It's ice cream, but they present it like its been prepared by a 5 star chef. It's fresh, its gourmet they even have adult 21+ flavors.
Honestly, it doesn't matter what you're selling at the end of the day... With the right attitude and a product that you believe in, you can turn anything mundane into an experience and I think these people have mastered the idea of that. The ice cream is made locally, it's fresh, the stock rotates per season...but don't worry, you can still most likely get a pint of an off-season flavor from the freezer. My suggestion, let it soften up...just a tiny little bit if you get it from the freezer before diving into a pint. The flavors seem bolder that way. My favorite happens to be the caramel apple pie. Friendly environment, cool theme, great well-thought out, broad spectrum of flavors... and most important of all in my opinion is that you leave there feeling better, (or at least not worse), than you did when you walked in. Highly...
Read moreMy husband and I stumbled upon May Day Ice Cream as we were searching for dessert spots in Jacksonville, Florida! We’re on a foodie adventure to find the best food in the country and we have to say that they are absolutely worth visiting!!
It was the cutest place ever! When you walk in the smell of their homemade waffle cones hits your nose. The walls are painted super cute!!
They have such fun and different flavors!! You can even order a flight of different flavored ice creams so that you can try multiple flavors!! Such a GREAT idea!! All of them were so creamy and packed with mix ins and flavor!!
We also ordered the affagato where you pick which flavor of ice cream you want and they top it with fresh espresso!
Some of our Favorite flavors were the parent trap. It was a PB ice cream with oreos mixed within. The PB was so prevalent and delicious and made the ice cream so creamy, plus the oreos within gave you a slight crunch and chocolate flavor which was bomb! The Aviator was a chocolate Nutella ice cream that was also super smooth and creamy with fat chunks of biscoff cookie!! The cookie crush was the best cookies in cream we’ve ever had! MASSIVE chunks of oreos and the base legit tasted like the cream of the Oreo! Honestly everything was so good!!!
You must check them out if you’re in the Florida area!!

Read moreI love, love ice cream so I was very excited to find this creamy after doing a Google search. I looked at the companies website and after seeing the unique flavors they offered, I was excited to visit. The shop itself was a perfect blend of old time ice cream shoppe feel with a modern decor. The guy who served us was very pleasant. He made me feel comfortable, being my first time there. He empathized with us on the excitement of trying new flavors and seemed excited to see our reactions to some of the flavors, which was very cool since, in my experience, CSRs can get annoyed when you want to try multiple flavors. I tried many of the flavors, which were all interesting and tasty. I settled on 2 scoops of the coffee and donuts and aviator flavors in a waffle cone with whipped cream. The actual dessert is why I gave it 3 stars, everything else was 5. The waffle cone was the best part of the ice cream experience. I quickly discovered that the ice cream tasted a lot better when it was just a taste and not a full mouth full. The donuts in the coffee ice cream tasted dry, almost stale and basically flavorless outside of a "bread" taste. Also the whipped cream just tasted like plain heavy whipping cream that they put in a foamer. It was kind of off putting especially next to the very sweet ice cream. It wasn't a bad experience at all, but it was more of a novelty experience than one...
