Panera Bread — Restaurant in Jacksonville

Last week I decided to give Panera another try, after ordering from Clara's Tidbits consistently over the last few months. I wanted a change. Nothing wrong at all with Clara's they are consistently great and reliable with the quality of their food.

Obviously I can't say the same about Panera - I gave them one chance after a few months and that was a mistake. I ordered the Roasted Turkey and Avocado BLT - in the restaurant, didn't pre-order it. The cashier assured me that it was a very good choice. After I drove back to the office, just a few minutes from this Panera location, sat at my desk, opened up the wrapping around the sandwich and was going to start to enjoy lunch, I realized that all of the sandwich bread was wet. Not like the consistency of fresh bread which normally has some moisture, but like a sponge that had been sitting in water. The sandwich bread was soaked and disgusting.

I didn't have time to deal with going back to get another sandwich, or to call Panera and try to have this corrected. How do you get bread so soaking wet like this? Did the crew at Panera run out of floor mops of dish rags and used my sandwich instead?

A few weeks ago, I also went to this same Panera location for some strong blended ice coffee, I ordered the largest size possible, and when my order was complete, I was given the blended coffee in what was obviously a small size/small cup. No way was I going to let that pass, so I showed the manager my receipt and that I expect to get what I pay for. They did switch it out for the large size coffee, but I shouldn't have to correct them on this mistake.

I used to eat at this same Panera location on a much more regular basis over the last couple of years, and they used to be reliable and have good quality sandwiches, but I won't take the chance again. Food was great, place was clean, but that's not what made this experience so exceptional. Me being pregnant, don't have a great memory. I went in with my two kids for togo food and left my purse hanging on a chair. I didn't realize until I made it all the way home that I'd forgotten it, so I called in case there was still a chance to save it. I spoke with an associate that informed me another employee turned it in to the manager. So when I arrive to pick it up, Im patiently waiting behind a customer. A kitchen employee gives said customer a cookie then turns and hands me one as well. I told her why I was there, she informed me she gave the purse to the manager to put up, so he went to retrieve it. I attempted to give the employee the cash I had on hand, and she wouldn't accept it. She just told me to spend it on the kids. Not only did she notice the craziness that is my life, but she noticed I'd overlooked taking my purse with me bc of it, and picked it up to turn in (which alone is an insanely commendable act), but she also wanted no part of me trying to repay her for it either. I couldn't thank this woman enough for what she did, but if anyone else wants to give her a huge thank you for being such an honest and sweet person, PLEASE DO!!! I will def make a lot more visits to this location in the future. I truly appreciate the staff at this place, who were all great even before I left my purse!...

Went for soufflé, but out at 10am. So ordered bagel cream cheese & fat free milk. She said they only have what is in case right there. Tried to explain they have to pour it out of carton or carafe. Duh! So told her I’d have a coke. Ask did they have Coca Cola? She said yes. Then told her I would just get it to go. Ordered a pecan braid and cranberry muffin. She leaves and comes back & totaling order & she has a Diet Pepsi in her hand. I said I ordered a Coke, not a Pepsi, and not diet. Did not have. So told refund the drink. Manager came up to help. What a mess. Incorrect order, sloppy service, rude. I have gone to that Panera for 6 years. Something is bad wrong there. Won’t go back. I waiting on order & ask where it is. She you have to go to side. All they had to do was toast muffin. It still wasn’t toast. Told them to just give it to me so I coul go. Told them won’t be coming back. I’m walking away & manager tells other employees he refunded my money. So what that doesn’t mean I’m a guest & treat me rude and don’t apologize. What a mess.
