Attention to detail is what you pay for and that’s basically the most amazing factor of this place. Your hot tea comes with sugar cubes. They set the table specifically to your party size, the waitress was attentive.
Now the cons... WE GOT FORGOTTEN BY THE HOSTESS. She called our name saying we were next and then gave our table to someone else. When she was about to do it a second time my husband came up and said something, which she very polity apologized for the error and moved us to the front of the room to be seated next.
When we entered the building we were told it was a 20-25 minute wait and were offered a complimentary glass of champagne (attention to detail). With the mix up it was about an hour before we were seated, and the waiting area is a bit awkward. There’s only a three seater bench so we and about 10-15 others were standing for about an hour waiting.
The front is a bit confusing: again, no true waiting area, two to-go registers not being used and a freestanding fridge of sparkling water- not something you see where a plate of porkscampollini and mashed potatoes is $23.
Once we were seated the waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive. I stuck with water and my husband from Minnesota got a sweet tea he declared “needed to be a bit sweeter” (I’ve converted him to being Southern well).
My husband got the margarita pizza and asked if he could get pepperoni on it. It arrived with sliced sausages, so I’ll give it to ya. You’re not wrong.
I got the Pork Scampollini which is basically a cubed pork steak battered and cooked with breading, accompanied my roasted peppers, mashed potatoes, and mushrooms. The pork was delicious and the sauce was great, especially when you got a bit of everything together. However, I felt the potatoes were a bit to liquid in the mouth. I kept coming back to the thought that the ingredients were very simple and and that as a person with an extensive Culinary background I could probably make this at home. Now granted, if I’m making it at home it probably would not be as well presented because, again, the greatest achievement of this place is attention to detail.
Sooo my customary review. Everyone starts off on a 5. +3 attention to detail (it really is the little things) +1 for the food itself -2 for the mixup and wait (wait system needs a bit of work other than an excel sheet printed out) -1 for the lack of reservation methods other than by phone. (I would like to see an option on OpenTable or something) -1 for the confusing front area and lack of waiting area
So yeah, 5 out of 10.
I may come back to try their lunch as the menu we received said dinner so I’m assuming there is an earlier option, but Not terribly excited about...
Read moreOur dinner at Midtown Table last night was incredibly mediocre. We started the evening by checking in for our reservation which the hostess had evidently checked a different party in under prior to our on-time arrival. Instead of letting us know what happened, she went off to look for a table and laugh with a manager about the mix-up before ultimately leading us outside to a table on their patio. We were not given the option of waiting for an indoor table to become available even though that was what we had booked. September in Florida is still very warm and although there were fans on the patio this wasn’t the best start to our night.
Moving on to drinks, my first and second choice of cocktails from their menu were unavailable due to “seasonal changes,” so I had a glass of the Sangiovese which was very nice. We started with the seasonal Burrata which featured summer fruits and walnut and came with focaccia - it was great!
Unfortunately, the appetizer was the best part of the night. My husband ordered the bucatini carbonara which was okay, but nothing impressive. The pancetta was just hunks of un-rendered ham and the pepper was overpowering. However, his pasta was miles better than the sad excuse for a steak frites that I received. (Note: steak frites is spelled incorrectly on their menu so that should have been a red flag.)
I have truly never had a steak like the one I was served last evening. I ordered it medium rare but it came out essentially seared like an ahi tuna (see picture) and was completely raw in the middle. There wasn’t even a crust on the steak and if there ever was one at all it was soaked and ruined under the chimichurri by the time it reached our table. The grain of the meat was non-existent which made it seem even more like a tuna dish.
Our waitress was lovely and we didn’t really see the utility in sending it back so I ate what I could and left the worst bits, but looking back I really wish we had said something. Aside from the uncooked meat, the flavors were all off and it really didn’t even taste like a steak. The seasoning was overwhelmingly onion-y, the chimichurri was watery, and the truffle fries were unremarkable. It was truly a baffling dish and I was stunned that their kitchen allowed a steak like that to be sent out. I don’t know how any cook worth their salt can mess up a steak that badly.
Needless to say we won’t be back to Midtown Table and we will not be recommending it to friends. We’re very disappointed in our experience and we’ll be avoiding all other restaurants operated by the Medure...
Read moreI dined at Midtown a few months ago with my husband. The meal and service was amazing. It was so good in fact that when I was asked to host a baby shower, this was the place that I chose. I spoke with Brittany who helped me through the whole process--choosing food, getting flowers for the table, choosing the right table to seat us, making sure we had the exact number of guests (which started with 20 but then dwindled to 6 due to pandemic). We were sat in a set back corner but faced the back patio. Originally, we had planned on sitting in the patio but the mommy to be really wanted to be comfortable and in A/C so were sat at a large table that could have sat 8-10 people. It was perfect because we also did not have any other people around us. Lindsey was our server and she was great, very attentive and made sure all of our needs were met. Actually, everyone who worked there was really wonderful and hospitable. The food was amazing! Our menu was based on my last visit with the additional charcuterie tray. We started with the beef and tomato soup which was seasoned very well with small chunks of tender beef. The Cesar salad was not overly dressed with the addition to fresh herbs and a crouton crumble to give it a little bit of crunch and yes it was delicious. The radiatori in a beef bolognese topped off the meal and is a must try for anyone wanting a different spin on pasta. I think the whipped ricotta just makes it one of the best pasta dishes I've had. Everything was seasoned perfectly, at the right temperature, and with the right timing. The mom to be loved every aspect of it, from the flowers, to the table, to the food, to the service. From what I was told, this was the first time that they had hosted a party like this and everything worked out perfectly. I would definitely look at doing something like this at Midtown again. Maybe even once it cools down, having it in their cute patio. And, in case you're wondering, everyone was following CDC guidelines and wearing masks. Bravo for being able to provide great service even...
