I have been going to Gloss since before the new owners took over in 2019. I decided to go in for a gel fill on 10/9/21. My usual nail tech was on maternity leave, so I just walked in. I visited Gloss to get a specific design done for the Jags game that weekend. Upon arriving, I asked the nail tech, Tony, if he could do the design that I wanted. He said yes and proceeded to start my nails. While using the drill to file my nails down, he was not looking at my nails and instead looking around the nail lounge and he hit my late great-grandmother's ring with the drill. After my ring had already been damaged, I said "you just hit my ring" and he proceeded to act as if he did not just damage my great-grandmother's ring. The only item I have of hers since she passed. Tony proceeded to look at the ring and act like he did not see any damage. He obviously did not care and continued to act like it was not his fault. While continuing to do my nails, he previously stated that he would be able to do the design that I showed a picture of. My nails looked nowhere near the desired design and I asked if he could fix it twice. After not receiving what I wanted, he told me that he couldn't do the design and to just change it to something else. So much frustration. Gloss states that their promise is āYour overall experience in our salon is always first priority. From when you enter our home, you should be welcomed like our own. If you don't love every bit about it, our jobās not done.ā Their āpromiseā is clearly not their proven standard. We notified the receptionist at the front, Jacqline, of what had happened with my ring and how unhappy with my nails I was. She said that corporate would be in contact with me within the next few days, but here I am a week later and I have heard nothing. Jacqline proceeded to inform me that I still needed to pay full price although I left the salon with nails that I was unhappy with and a damaged ring. Extremely unprofessional how they have handled both situations. I am extremely disappointed in the staffās urgency to find a solution or compassion to a situation that greatly impacted me. After a week of no outreach by Gloss, it is in Glossās best interest to rectify the issue as soon...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI donāt usually pamper myself with manicures and pedicures anymore due to the expense and upkeep, but I once was very religious about going every 2 weeks - so Iām not new to the process. I was on vacation and havenāt had my nails done in months, possibly almost a year; so I figured Iād splurge and get them done. I donāt reside in Jacksonville, I was visiting a friend and passing through. We went on her recommendation although she had also not been before. It was a very clean and welcoming facility. I had picked out the gel dip I desired, with the help of my nail tech who had told me the first option I chose was out and we proceeded to look for a color that was similar together. We finally agreed on a white color (which is the ācolorā if you will, that I was wanting). She showed me the powder container, I confirmed the number and color and we went about doing my nails. As she did the first layer she mentioned how it was pink and I made the comment that I possibly am the only female I know who cannot stand the color pink. I had noticed it was tinted slightly pink but to me still looked more white and I assumed it would only get more white with the layers. She continued. After she finished and I looked down at my nails (I had been watching a show on the tv), I realized the nails were a lot more pink than I would typically be ok with, not to mention pink was not the color I had chosen to begin with. After the transaction, I went back to the color palette and referenced the choice I had made with the color that was on my nails (photo included). I was clearly not happy, I believe I even mentioned to her how I do not like pink (again) when she asked if I liked them. I also was discussing my disappointment to my friend in front of the desk, to which the receptionist seemed like she was alerted to my unhappiness but not entirely willing to verify and ask before we stepped out. We were on a time crunch that day and leaving shortly after this visit and I was not coming back to the city to be able to go back and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet the record show that the only good thing about this place is the technician Gabi. This review is in no way a reflection of her.
A friend gave me what was left of her gift-card to this place because āshe didnāt like itā and that shouldāve stopped me from going. But I like any opportunity to save, so I thought Iād check it out.
I had a scheduled appointment at 4 PM for a manicure with dip and a pedicure. When I arrived, there was no confirmation of what I wanted. I was just rushed to pick a color and plopped down in the chair.
After my pedicure, I was seated for my manicure, and the male technician quickly began to open the dip. I communicated I wanted a manicure, and that it was important to me that my cuticles were cut down. He said he would do it at the very end. Iāve been a victim of rushed nail services for far too long, and stated I did not want to wait until the end, as it leaves my cuticles grown out and brittle. So he told his manager he wouldnāt do my nails and promptly walked away, muttering something under his breath that caused him and his friend to chuckle.
As a result, I was then given to someone else. She did fine, but cut my finger open with a nail file (see pics). I then tried to ask for the design I wanted, and she said she was unable to do one, and there was no one available who could. This occurred after 2 and 1/2 hours of me being at the salon.
The management at the salon could really benefit from taking a few extra seconds with clients to understand the desired services and pair the client with the appropriate technician.
As a new resident of Jacksonville, I know where to NOT go ever again. Glad I learned early!
EDIT: Gloss has a sign at the cash register incentivizing people to leave reviews for $5 off their service. Beware that this likely impacts the reviews...
