Sushi Q — Restaurant in Jacksonville

Tonight myself, and 4 co-workers went to Sushi Q’s restaurant at 5010 Gate Pkwy in Jacksonville’s Southside for dinner. It wasn’t our 1st time going there, we’ve actually been there numerous times because the food has always been pretty good. However I have always sort of disliked going because the one young Asian guy that always seats and waits on everyone has a really bad attitude. I go because my co-workers like eating there, even though they feel the same way about the server, so we’ve always tolerated him. Well, tonight there were five of us and three of us are pretty big guys. When we walked in that same server walked up watching us walk in, I said that there were five of us and he totally ignored me, wouldn’t even look at me. I told him two more times there were five of us and he continued to ignore and not even acknowledge that I was there. He started walking to a booth and I asked him if we could have a table (like I said three of us are pretty big), he pointed to the booth again and I said “we can’t sit at a table” and he said “NO”. There was only one other booth occupied in the whole restaurant, there was absolutely no reason a table wouldn’t have been available, they were all empty, and all in the same seating area. Like I said, every time we go this guy is rude. We all turned around and walked out saying we will never go back. Like I said, the food is ok but the service is the worst, this server must obviously be the owner’s son or something because I’m sure he’s cost the restaurant customers. I wouldn’t recommend giving them your money because they surely don’t appreciate...

One star because I went with some friends during work lunch. The server got upset at us that she messed up our order. Apparently with the lunch boxes, salads come in the box and not on the side in a bowl. I did not know that and when our server handed me a salad when I ordered a box, I thought nothing of it. All 4 of us ordered a salad either in a box or on their own. A few minutes later my friend who also ordered a salad asked about her salad and our server said she already gave it to us. When we explained we all ordered one and that she handed it to me, she got upset saying that I should have given my friend the salad as mine goes in the box and I should have known. She complained that now she has to pay for the other salad out of her pocket. I have never heard of that before. Mind you, this is my 2nd time being here and I did not order the lunch box last time so I did not know how they served their food. We were intentional to be super nice and suggested she can give my salad that was apart of the box to my friend and put it in a separate bowl, but she retorted that she wasn’t gonna do that. She was a young girl and she ended up making everyone else serve us and give us our checks because she did not like that we called her out on her mistake. Oh and her excuse for handing me the salad and not my friend? She said we looked alike. I am white and my friend is black. BFFR. Bad customer service and 1 star because she didn’t like being told...

Sushi Q,

December 1st, 2021 stopped in for quick take out. Purchased Hibachi Shrimp & Steak with Fried Rice. The person that took my phone order was very accomodating, and gave superior service ! The restaurant is always impeccably clean and beautiful.

However, unfortunately I had 2 containers, 1 small with 3 spring rolls, and the 2 small container with shrimp & steak.

It was so much juice in the container that it leaked out into the bag.

The Shrimp was crispy and well prepared. The Steak was very very tough ! The Steak was so chewy and not tender at all. That was disappointing. The vegetables were over cooked. That also was disappointing.

The Fried Rice, I can't tell you how it was because I paid $18.00 but I had absolutely no rice at all. They forgot to give it to me at all. I also asked for Chopped sticks, they forgot those also.

I asked for soy sauce, it was placed in a little cup that also leaked into my bag.

So Great Restaurant, Great Staff, Food is Normally Perfect !

But the Take Out Today on this Wednesday...
