Great food, great staff. Hunk konk noodles were fantastic. Also, id like to say I agree I agree with kyle about Timothy, and I'll break down his comment as to why:
1.Trying to make regular food into fancy a meal, but it doesn’t work. The food is average at best. For example, their beef is over cooked making it tough to chew. And their soup is over salted to mask deficiencies.
While I'm sure Timothy would prefer to eat his food out of a can, such as his favorite meal, fancy feast, I don't see an issue of a resteraunt of any quality paying more for better dishes and silverware to enhance the dining experience. As for salty soup, I am simply confused. Are you sure your it wasn't the sweat of your brow having been exposed to your first hot food in years, mixing in with the soup?
2.Smaller portion size for everything. For example, you will get a smaller portion size of noodles and vermicelli. These are not expensive items, so to reduce the portion size makes little sense and additionally makes the customer feel slighted. Even the dipping sauce is given in a small amount. You will get about one table spoon of dipping sauce for your spring rolls. This dipping sauce is the same as any other Vietnamese restaurant, but those other eateries will give you half a small bowl.
Smaller portion in comparison to what Timothy? Your 5th microwaved hungry man of the day? You also keep saying they reduced the portion size. This restaurant has been open 2 weeks, shorter than the average time it takes you to use the restroom. Are you implying in the 2 weeks they've been open they have reduced their portion size? I'm a large man, and the portion sizes of the foods I've eaten have been extremely filling. Not every restaurant can give a portion large enough for what I assume must be an absolute behemoth of a man. One table spoon of sauce? Are you sure the table spoon you are using to measure isn't the canoe paddle you use in place of a normal, human spoon?
3.The overpriced menu. Each item is $2-3 dollars more than other Vietnamese restaurants. So dinner for two might cost you $10 more, which comes out to be around 25 percent more expensive than an average Vietnamese restaurant.
2 multiplied by 2 is 4. 3 multiplied by 2 is 6. Perhaps the mercury in your fancy feasts are infecting the math portions of your brain?
-So overall, you are paying around 25 percent more for average to lower quality food that is also smaller in portion size compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in Jacksonville.
Timothy, there is a local jacksonville man caught kidnapping kittens from the yards of local homes. I am not implying that was you, as kittens are quick and agile, meanwhile you are the first recorded man to drift when you turn a corner....
Read moreBefore I decided to leave a review for this restaurant, I messaged the owner directly to let her know of my experience. Unfortunately she never read or responded to my message, so here we are. This is an honest, fully transparent review.
My boyfriend and I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for months, and finally went last night. This restaurant has raving reviews on many of the local foodie groups. We were expecting an amazing meal with great service. Unfortunately only half of this was the case.
We were seated almost immediately. We could see the restaurant only had one server tending to tables, as well as taking phone orders. We are very patient people, and saw they were likely short staffed this evening. We can only be so patient.
It took about 15 minutes for the server to take our order. We ordered everything: 2 drinks (water and thai tea), 1 appetizer (beef satay), and 2 entrees (hong kong noodles and vermicelli bowl).
About 10 minutes pass, and my boyfriends entree came out. Not the appetizer nor the drinks. Another 10 minutes pass, and we get our drinks. Another 10 minutes, our appetizer. At this point, my boyfriend is done with his meal, and I still do not have mine. Finally after another 10 minutes, I have my meal and my water is empty. No one checks on us. No one apologizes for the delay. No one even refills our water. Server would disappear for extended periods of time.
Meanwhile 2 couples had come in for to go orders that were ordered before we got there, or when we got there, and they still didn’t have their meal. Based on their experience, they both said they would never be back to this establishment. Sad.
I think my review would have been better if a manager, or someone took the time to come to our tables and other tables to apologize for the delay. It truly is about customer service. Unfortunately, that was lacking last night.
While the service was horrendous, the food was fresh and very good. Enough so, that we will likely return. The quality of the food is the 3 stars.
I don’t think my experience was representative of the restaurant, but I was hoping they would at least respond and address...

Walking in, it's a much bigger space than what it looks like from the outside and it's very clean, well-organized and nicely decorated. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and seated immediately (it would have been weird if we weren't, place was almost empty :)). It is their soft opening, from what I'm told by the lady (Lan) tending to us and come to find out later, she's one of the owners. She took our drink orders and let us peruse the menu. IT IS A COOL MENU IMO, the pictures are bigger than the words so you can just point at what you want, so many I wanted to try but I mainly came for the ramen.
We ordered:
(App) Crab Rangoons - Wife & daughter said it was different but good. has a deeper savory taste.
(App) Sugarcane Prawns - I'm told it was good too.
Ramen - It was good (not bad but not great), pork belly was tasty and tender. The broth was okay, probably will get it again.
**Pad Thai w/ chicken - This was my daughter's and she didn't like it, said it was bland. I tried it and, yes, it was bland. Flavor was so flat.
Beef Stew (Bo kho) w/ rice noodles - GET THIS!! It's an umami bomb. This was my wife's order but I almost took it from her after I tasted it LOL
Beef was tender, the veggies were soft & delicious..The broth was awesome...my daughter said "it taste like the smell you get when you get through the second door at Whole Foods" and I get it.... Fragrant, earthy, organic, hearty, wholesome....just try it.
Service was great. Lan was very accommodating and patiently answered our questions and made great recommendations.
**When we mentioned that the Pad Thai was bland, she was appreciative of the feedback. She even took off 10% off our tab and didn't charge us for the extra noodles that my wife requested for her soup.
We'll definitely be back and will be trying most of the items...
