I’ve been to Pisco’s so many times, my last two times visiting have been very disappointing. I’ve been eating here since 2012, and I was happy to have the closest thing to Peruvian food in Jax. But I hope this review comes as a wake-up call for the owners. First thing, portions. The portion sizes are not proportional to the prices listed. I get it, inflation, whatever. But at least be honest about the prices. I paid almost $20 for the sorriest Jalea personal that (I kid you not) only had 4 shrimps, 2 fish fillets, 4 of the skinniest yuca fritas I’ve ever seen in my life, and 2 calamaris. It was ridiculous, and I was laughing so hard when my waitress brought it out. 2. The service. The waitresses are awesome, and you can tell they are nice girls. But especially in my last two visits, ONE girl was basically running the whole restaurant. Answering the never-stopping phone; seating customers; taking orders; using POS system, and even cleaning. And there was ONLY ONE WAITRESS. You know what, God bless those girls because they’re the only reason this review isn’t a 1 star. That’s just ridiculous, and I hope to God the owners are paying them extremely well, or even if you don’t, you could at least pay a second waitress. Especially for the lunch rushes that I experienced. I have plenty of other points, but I’ll try to signal the owners/managers, whomever. You can’t run a restaurant like a cheapskate. It’s not fair to your customers, employees, or yourselves. They don’t even serve canchitas/maíz chulpe like they used to! I would’ve been happy to pay $25 for a Jalea if it meant more than the sorry helping I got. Why? Because at least it’s honest. Until then, I recommend my friends in Jax to NOT reward your business to “Cheapskate’s”...

First time here. Arrived at 6:40. We finally got a server after 20 minutes of waiting. We ordered our drinks and they brought half of our party’s drink and forgot the others. Keep in mind it was not busy. When they finally brought our drinks (it was only beers and cans of soda) we were able to place our order. Our food came out at 8:45-9 pm. This restaurant closes at 8. I understand that it is not the servers cooking so it isn’t their fault however, they had a strong lack of communication. They never informed us that there would be a long wait for food or even apologized for the wait. When we finally did receive our food not once did the server come to check if our meals were up to par , while it was good, we wanted to request sauces but they never came back after dropping off food. We requested a manager multiple times. They said the manager was coming. After a while the server offers one free dessert for the wait. Manager never showed. We declined the desert. Very bad first experience. I am a server and was very understanding and respectful because I know how difficult the restaurant industry can be but they were very negligent of our table which I did not appreciate. I have always left 20 percent tip or more. This is the first time I will not. It is now 9:17 and we are still waiting for the server to come bring our check.

Update: it is 9:37, we just got the check. They added gratuity to the check. Again I am ALL FOR GRATUITY but it was not deserved. Not even in...

Cozy little place that is definitely worth a try!

I got the Beef Chaufa (fried rice), yuca con huancaina, and the chicha morada!

The yuca con huancaina was tasty! The yuca itself was fried to perfection. A note though, there was no seasonings or salt at all, they left it up to you to sprinkle whatever you wanted. The huancaina was a very interesting dip! Google for more info but it’s a creamy yellow sauce that has cheese and other flavors/seasonings blended into it.

The beef chaufa was $17.95 and had strips of beef that were from a very regular cut of beef lol, but at least the portions were giant! Definitely enough to fill up two adults.

I’m no expert on Peruvian cuisine but I thought their chicha morada was DELICIOUS and by far my favorite thing I ordered. Perfectly balanced citrus notes and sweetness. I could not stop sipping it.

In terms of service, as soon as all our food was served, our server never came back out to ask us if we needed anything so… that’s that.

Definitely coming back to try...

Just realized I was charged too much for only 2 ceviches!!!! My past review from 5 years is gone!!! Oh my, I should post a picture from then & now...and you be the judge of the change!!! It USED to be the place I'd drive 2 to 3 hours for......worth every mile/penny for!! Ordered 1 Shrimp Ceviche & Mixed Ceviche Apparently, they were out of causa. It was just okay....actually, no, it sucked! I should have made it myself for the price of a watered-down lime...(wait...was there lime in it?), cooked shrimp....lacking the lime & barely any cilantro!! The purple onions were not soaked in salt water or lime juice. So, it was a very strong onion taste. Oh, same with the mixed ceviche....more fish than anything... Oh, $7?.?? Something dollar Togo plates with a $10. Tip.......remember it's to go, no serving drinks....waiting on me. More than 10%. I will NOT go back! It's disappointing, because this was my favorite place...

The place is beautiful but the food is just ok. Ordered papa a la huancaina first, which was pretty nice and simple, but then came the queso con choclo which was literally just the corn cobs next to a block of feta cheese. I was at least expecting it to be off the cob and in a bowl, especially for $8! My entree was the aji de gallina, which was also nice. The others at our table got a giant jalea order, a fish dish, and ceviche. The ceviche was definitely the best and had a nice spicy flavor to it. I also had the chicha morada, which wasn’t bad, but very sweet. For dessert we shared an alfajor. Overall the food is nothing special and not as good as Peruvian food would be. Based on the quality and the portion sizes, the prices seemed expensive. I would go to a few other restaurants before coming here for good Peruvian food.
