Hands down best ayce kbbq in Jax. No hot pot to distract from great kbbq. So great I have to give a full review as thanks for such a satisfying meal with friends.
Side dishes and other items included and unlimited, 2 hour limit (strict if busy), $20 charge per 1/2 lb of wasted meat (not strict but they have the right to enforce it so eat your food and don't be too wasteful and you won't have to worry about this) and the drinks are priced right.
The meat will get touched by flames on the edge of the burner/grill so pork and chicken cook hot and the sauces are not runny so the meats will get charred well.
The trick to cooking the meat is just throw it on, spread it out, let it sit for 2+ minutes, flip, repeat and/or spread along the edges if you like it charred like me. They will replace the grills repeatedly to keep them fresh for even and safe cooking so don't worry about ruining or overcharging the grill. After the first meat or two everyone gets the hang of it, or if you're really not the grilling type I'm sure they would do it for you.
Two menus only, $31 and 41, with the $41 having a few extra options definitely worth trying, but the cheaper menu has bulgogi (marinated sliced steak), spicy pork, and beef brisket which are imo the staples of a solid kbbq experience and theirs are all very good.
Kimchi and other sides aren't amazing but aren't subpar or anything, I enjoyed the variety even if each dish wasn't for me. I wish they had a seaweed salad, and potato dish for starch instead or pasta salad. Definitely not a deterrent from repeat business, just my smallest of critiques.
The only other complaint is there isnt enough spice in the spicy meats, sides, or kimchi tofu stew. For 95% of customers this is a good thing as the level of heat will be more enjoyable to them, but for those of us who expect a higher level it was somewhat disappointing. They have gochujang (spicy chili paste) on request to make up for it, but it isn't the same as cooking in spicy marinade or spicy broth.
Service on the Sat night I went was completely perfect.
Overall it's one of the best ayce places in Jax, try it if you can afford it while it's this level of quality. Ask for garlic and throw it on the...
Read moreBeen here last year Dec 13,2023 and another date which made me not want to come and support this business. Dec 13th experience was decent but you have to order 3 meats to proceed, as well as the portions sizes are huge so you definitely have to finish those or else you’ll be charge!. Service can be decent and iffy at the same time there's no yeah the service is great in this case scenario, example like the server will checks on you to see how it is going. As well the constant waving down does occur. The 2nd incident my partner and I decided to come here since it was the only thing that was open late, we arrived around 10:50 when we walked in stood by the host station where there was not a single hostess there, so we waited at the station waiting for a hostess to come and seat us but it took them 10-15 minutes to send one employee to come tell us they weren't sitting anyone anymore since they are closing mind you they close 12. So you are practically telling me that you guys aren't seating anyone at 10:50 when that whole 10-15 minutes you could have sat us? But instead of coming to us directly they waited 10-15 minutes to have someone to come tell us that? But that’s not the worst part the worst part is that they were all in the back row staring at us and we literally saw them whispering to each-other like who was gonna go up and tell us which is ridiculous.
While the interior is good and they do play K-pop the food is mediocre and with that whole entire incident I always warn my friends and my partner always tell her coworkers to always avoid this place when it comes to kbbq as the experience was horrible. But we always recommend them to else where like hot pot and bbq or top pot in...
Read moreWe went here first time w/ a party of 8 and got a large table. I enjoyed it then so went as a party of 2 to see if it would be the same experience. It did not disappoint. We waited about 20 minutes arriving on a Friday night at 0800. Table was prepared w/ side dishes already there and house salad. Two choices approximately $30 menu or approximately $40 menu, each one with different selections. For those new to Korean bbq, you cook your meats on the grill at the table. We went with the $40 and ordered mostly beef and chicken items. We had quite a few pork selections on our first visit and were good, but I overcooked them, so we decided on beef and chicken and we were happy we did. I had done Korean bbq, before, but wanted to see what our waiter did. He brought our selection of beef bulgogi, vagabond steak and spicy chicken. Appetizer steam egg and cream corn. The waiter asked if I wanted him to start it, I said yes and he threw the beef bulgogi on grill, put the garlic I requested on there and came back to make sure it was going well. It was a nice start. Very good quality meets, we have been places were the meats were too fatty and dry. These were nicely seasoned and prepared. Watching the waiters bring out things pretty regularly, we had to get the attention of our waiter a couple times, but he was very nice and brought out requests. It is an all you can eat and has a 2 hour max limit. We weren't even close to that, we left satisfied and wanted to come back the next day. I have been to several different Korean places around the country and this was very good. We would gladly return again. I wish they offered more of the side dishes, but this...
