Rating 3.9. We ordered a takeout with 1 large pizza and a half-and-half topping request (clearly specified on the online menu order form though). The pizza was not made half and half; instead, it had all the toppings all over, which ruled my daughter out from eating the pizza we brought home. (My son did not check when he picked it up) I dont know if the Doordash form sent it to them, so I dont want to confirm it, but I certainly selected Left and right sides. We also ordered garlic butter wings, and I swear they did not add sauce or just basted them lightly where no taste would be evident. Effectively, plain wings we got and I added my own barbecue sauce at home. The calzone was great, though, and the pickup order was ready within twenty minutes. Honestly, if I could give them a 3.75 or 3.9, I would have, but Google Maps doesn't allow that. The food and experience were not a 4.0 or above, sorry. I think the pizza was overall fine, but their lack of attention to detail would deter me from spending more money there.

On the fast moving Old Bay Meadows Road there can and is only one place to find great Pizza and this is Vino's Pizza and Grill. I've written extensively about the outcome of the Pizza Wars and how now, there are literally only two types of Pizza establishments the ones that actually make Pizza and the ones that serve prefabricated cardboard and tomato sauce, if it is even that. Vino's is real pizza with a real crust and real cheese and priced where a 16' inch should be. And was ready in just under 15 minutes. What I liked also, and really clinched the five stars was the availability of Parmesan cheese that I like to add to pizza. How many locations or pizza places actually have Parmesan cheese now? Of course I've asked and get handed seven small packets that are so tight by the time they get ripped open there isn't any real cheese. Vino's Pizza and Grill on Old Bay Meadows Road is five star excellence in Pizza. šŸ•

I guess I ordered the wrong thing. Based on the reviews, only the pizza is good here. I ordered a Greek salad with chicken, a kids pasta and meatballs, and an Italian sub (to go), and an ice tea. The chicken on my salad wasn't chicken breast (looked more like chopped chicken thighs) and it was burnt, dry, and cold. My son's pasta was meh, and when my husband received his Italian sub, he said it tastes okay, but lacked more meat filling. My ice tea tasted like dirty water, so I went to get soda instead and soda dispenser didn't work. I was offered soda from a 2 litter bottle, I opted for a bottle water. Another pet peeve is that they had cheap, weak plastic utensils. My belief is that any restaurant that serves food on actual plates should have metal silverware. If you plan on having anything other than pizza, read the other low rating reviews! I wish I had!!

This is THE New York-style pizza in Jacksonville.

Listen, I’m not just saying this. I’ve lived in Midtown, NYC, and I know exactly what a true NY slice is supposed to taste like. Since moving to Jacksonville in 2017, I have searched everywhere for a place that actually gets it right. And let me tell you, I’ve been disappointed way too many times. So many places claim they serve ā€œNY-styleā€ pizza, but when you take a bite, you just know—it’s not even close. The crust is wrong, the sauce is off, the cheese just isn’t it.

But Vino’s Pizza Grill? They nailed it.

I took one bite, and I swear, it was like I was back home. The crust has that perfect crisp on the bottom, with just the right amount of chew. It folds the way it should. The sauce? Slightly tangy, a little sweet, layered with real flavor—not just some canned nonsense. And the cheese? It pulls, it melts, it tastes like a proper NY slice. Everything is fresh, and you can tell they care about what they’re serving. This is legit pizza, made by people who actually give a damn.

But it’s more than just the food. I’m sitting here, enjoying my slice, watching how the staff interacts with customers, and it’s unreal. They don’t just take orders—they talk to people. They ask about families, check in on regulars, crack jokes like they’ve known you forever. And it’s not fake. You can tell this is just how they are. It’s rare to see a place where people actually connect like this, especially in a world where everyone’s glued to their phones.

Honestly? This whole vibe makes me feel like I’m still back home. Like I’m not missing my family as much because, in a way, this place feels like family too.

If you’re in Jacksonville and you want real New York-style pizza, don’t waste your time anywhere else. Vino’s Pizza Grill is the only spot that actually delivers on what...

This is a horrible place. I don't recommend this place. The owner is such an ill mannered, very arrogant, hostile & nasty person. We went to dine in this small "no name place" to try their pizza. When we tasted their iced tea it tasted like well water and hard rock tap water. My husband asked very nicely if he could return the iced tea becoz it tasted like tap water. He was yelling at my husband in front of me and my daughter causing us to feel nervous towards his aggressive behavior and don't trust their food. There was totally no call for him to create such a foolish rude attitude. Totally uncontrolled anger out of nowhere yelling that they don't use water and then later on saying that they use the best water???!. I told my husband that I dont trust their food and I don't wanna eat there anymore, so my husband then asked if he could refund our money because we don't want the food anymore which the owner refused to refund us (the food was not served yet.) He threatened us saying that he's from New York and he doesn't play that kind of game and pointed out " YOU KNOW HOW NEW YORKERS ARE". We felt threatened so my husband took us to the car because he was worried of me and my daughter's safety. Now, we were being harassed, he took our money and our day was ruined. We ended up calling a police which the owner admitted that he refused to give...

I've just recently become a homeless veterans( (U.S.M.C.;OIF,OEF Ops) I went in seeing the sign still Lit up a red OPEN and asked to purchase a cup of ice. The very friendly and welcoming gentleman at the counter asked me if I was hungry and was so kind as to bless me with an amazing Calzone that was just as delicious as the last one I had long ago when I had the pleasure of eating there in better times. Thank You for feeding this veteran and with such amazing food, I will forever be grateful and pray your restaurant remains fruitful and with multiplication into whatever you need GOD bless you! Three years later I am writing part two of this review and I am still impressed with this amazing Pizza and Grill with their continual positive attitudes and their family approach to how they care about their customers. I have just recently finished my 1st term of college ever across the street with a perfect grade in my Reading class and currently have a near perfect grade in my Fire Behavior class by less than one percent. Thank you and may God continue to multiply blessings and customers towards...
