We came here on opening day for dinner. Dinner is $16 plus a $2.50 drink. The line to get in wasn't terrible, maybe 10 minutes. The cashier, Mia, was super friendly! She gave us her dining recommendations and mentioned that our server would bring us our drinks.
We were sat and talked for a few minutes before getting up and getting in line. The plates were hot, the food was fresh & hot, and we moved through the line pretty quick! Many friendly staff members were around wiping counters, cleaning up spills, and serving some of the meat stations.
When we got back to our seats, there were still no drinks. We ate our first plate and people watched; still nobody greeted us. We got up, got our second plate for soup and salads. We came back and there were still no drinks.
I despise people that waive at servers or flag servers down, but I did ask to see if there was anyone available to get our drinks or if we missed the diy beverage station. The waitress was very polite and ran to get us our drinks. A different waitress came and brought back our drinks. She said that she would be taking care of us, and provided additional beverages as needed through the other half of our meal.
She was very friendly, but did not take any dishes, even when she checked on us. I imagine it is her first serving job since she was a bit scatterbrained. (Yes, I know, it was also opening day.)
So for food, the main dishes and sides were great! The flavors were fantastic; nothing burnt, mushy, or overpowering. The chocolate stand, however, was a mess. Little kids were unattended and there seems to be nobody monitoring the stand. The only other real issue was that the spoon we got from the dessert station was very dirty and caked on with food.
Overall, the food was great, the waitress was hopefully having an off day, and the price seemed a bit steep for what our experience had been.
We would go there for lunch and I'm curious about their breakfast spread, but not for...
Read moreMy bf and I noticed the sign from the highway yesterday and decided to make it our lunch stop. It opened this past week we were told. The line was long but moved quick. My first disappointment was when the cashier asked if I wanted to add my tip to my card. I'm just entering the place so why are you asking me to tip for a service O haven't received? What if I do a standard tip and they deserve more than that? Or the other way around which was the case this time. It was transition from breakfast to lunch and guess what you couldn't find either items. The place was full and they were definitely not prepared to handle this big crowd. We waited in line about 20 minutes for steak. The cook kept giving out the medium-rares not giving a chance for them to cook and hand out to those asking for medium well. He was overwhelmed which translated into giving customers an attitude and mumbling under his breath. Table service was very bad too. The server kept asking us do we want her to take these plates. Yes I do they are empty and stacked at the edge of the table so no need to ask Everytime. Refills took forever and at one point she just asked my bf any the refill, took his cup and never came back with his drink. He was so aggravated that told me not to worry we'd get one elsewhere. There was hardly any desserts out so we went for the peanut butter silk pie. After the first bite I wanted to spit it out. It had a very weird taste, almost like detergent maybe. While there my bf started feeling stomach pain and sure enough got diarrhea. Soon after I got sick as well. We spent the rest of our Sunday with diarrhea and I was vomiting too. So all in all we spent about $40 for onion rings and chicken and pure fat for a steak. We received poor service and got to see how unhappy 90% of the employees and management looked. Pretty frustrating to spend my hard earned money in a place like this and also get...
Read moreMy daughter turned 13 on 6/25/24 and wanted to celebrate at GC - Janesville. We got there, walked in and the young man at the front desk had his back turned to us for 3-5 mins while he continued “wiping down” the desk sign and acted like we weren’t even there. Finally my husband said “maybe we should just go and sit down” definitely loud enough for the man to hear. Nothing. Then I said “yes, let’s just go sit.” The man then finally turns around grinning and says “what would you like to drink?” Is this how you greet customers? Could he not have easily said “I’ll be right with you.” Just rude.
The food looked super dry like it had been sitting out all week without anyone tending to it.. I think the mashed potatoes were literally turning back into powdered form.. there were pork chops that were so dry & hard they would’ve broken a tooth. There was a giant container of mushy spinach & another giant container of full size jalapeño peppers… just a bunch of weird place fillers that looked like they had been out all week.
The men at the restaurant kept staring at my beautiful 13 year old daughter. To the point where she commented to us about it and felt uncomfortable being there!
The whole restaurant smelled like a combination of sweaty gym shoes, dirty table rags & everything looked mildewy and sticky.
Little to find out earlier this SAME DAY someone found worms in their salad!!!
Never again. So gross. Not at all worth the $61 we paid to eat!
Please save yourself and go ANYWHERE ELSE! We regret not just leaving as soon as we noticed the smell but we didn’t want to damper my daughter’s birthday dinner. We...
