IHOP — Restaurant in Janesville

I’m so sad my experience here was ruined. We came here a few days ago and our server was awesome. We decided to come back today and bring our 3 year old daughter because we had such an awesome time. Today when we arrived we were seated and our server (Cheryl h) came to take our order. Our daughter wanted waffles and the server said the only waffles she could get was chicken and waffles. I asked if there was any way to substitute any of the pancake kids meals for a waffle and she said no. We decided to just get her pancakes. When I received my plate ( a waffle) and on my plate was crusted cheese obviously from a previous use of the plate. We also noticed that one of the servers was wearing a BTS hoodie walking around talking to her tables with her hands in her pockets. She would only take her hands out of her hoodie pocket to scratch her head multiple times. She was very unprofessional and I was grossed out that she was able to just keep scratching her head and then serve her tables food all while wearing a hoodie instead of a uniform. A guest complained to the girl wearing a hoodie about food on the chair she was about to be seated in and the server in the hoodie told her it was because “there must’ve been a kid sitting there before her” instead of cleaning it up for her. Overall we are very unsatisfied which disappointed us because a few days prior we had a great experience. We loved our previous server so much that we tipped her almost half of our bill. I love IHOP! Their breakfast menu and inventive specialty items such as stuffed french toast are amazing. This particular resturant charges nearly $4 per soda as I found out in the past. I swore I wouldn't go back to this restaurant because of the greed of anyone that charges $4 for an 8oz glass of soda.. it's been at least a year and the new speciality items are out, so I decided to try IHOP again but this time, I ordered coffee for my two kids and two adults. We drank one cup each of the watered down nasty coffee and they ended up charging me $2.59 for each 6oz cup of coffee. I asked the waitress about the cost of the coffee and she immediately referred me to the woman that must have been lead waitress and she tried to explain the the price was based off entire carafe, which was still unjustifiable. If that were the case, they should have encouraged me to have Togo cups, which they did not. Im guessing they filled the carafe and gave it to soneone else. Her explanation was week and the actions of tge other waitresses showed me that this was thier scam and that I'm not the only one questioning the cost of thier drinks! From the couple of times I've gone during their slow hours (weekday lunchtime), they've had plenty of options for good food at low prices, nice customer service, and a poor dining experience. Their food is good for its cost, almost every meal falls within the $10-$15 range. I've had one of their burgers and a egg scramble bowl. Neither were exceptionally good but they were cheap and came out quick, above average. I managed to get the same waitress both times, but she, along with others I've seen, are quite nice and attentive. The real problem I've had coming here is the interior. The first time I came, I found ants crawling around the table and seat. The waitress said that they come around every now and then. She brought me to a new table and basically brushed it off. The second time I sat at one of their small tables for one or two people, and it was uncomfortably small until I pushed the table away from the booth I was sitting in. For one person it's fine but I'd hate to be sitting there with someone else. Plus, the atmosphere was disappointing. The whole place is full of that modern-looking self-promoting imagery I find at plenty of fast food chains like McDonald's. I personally never enjoy dining in those establishments.
