T.J. Maxx — Local services in Janesville

One of the WORST customer service experiences I have EVER encountered. I frequently shop here and this may be the last time. I purchased undergarments, took them home, and tried one on, over my own undergarment, I realized it didn't fit properly. I took the items back and asked about a refund. The associate who was called over to help the cashier seemed to already have formed some sort of unfounded opinion about the situation or me, personally. She was gruff, short with me, rude, loud, unprofessional, and downright nasty. I was refused a refund "you wore them" and "the package was opened". I explained that I tried them on over my own undergarment. How do you know if they fit if you can't try them on? This woman, I wish I could remember her name, was a real piece of work. Raising her voice with me, becoming nearly irate. Still I asked, how do you know if they fit if you can't try them on and once you do and they don't fit you should be able to receive a refund. Granted, I did not have my receipt, I thought I did, and I offered to go home and come back with it but she was still cross with me and said I couldn't return them even with my receipt. I have never seen a policy about undergarments as being non-returnable, have you? I asked the rude shrew if I could leave them there for them to be donated. She said "we will just throw them away!" Upon my departure she yelled out, in a very sarcastic way, "have a nice day!" I returned the nicety. I ended up donating them and they were received with grace by someone in need. To this end, I say, TJ Maxx, you are not the only game in town and with associates as rude and unprofessional as that woman was, I will not be back...

There's always a bargain here! The purse selection is great. I love the home decor section too. The store is kept relatively clean. There is usually little staff interaction but they've always been friendly. My only complaint is about some of the items they chose to mark down as clearance items, specifically in the bath & body/make-up section of the store. Some of these items look as though they've been opened/used or the packaging/housing of the products are cracked which seems slightly unsanitary. I think maybe they should've just "damaged" the items out and thrown them away rather then put them out for sale. It's kind of gross. Other than that, no...

This is a fun store to browse since has random items you don't find at other stores. I was looking for bath mate for tub/shower and found the perfect one in the right color and very affordable price. The store had many other shoppers but no waiting at checkout. Merchandise was well stocked and aisles organized and well marked. However, limited quantities in some items so you may not find color or size you are looking for. This is especially true for clothing for all...
