Mac's Pizza Shack — Restaurant in Janesville

If I could I would rate 0 stars. The service was next to nothing, waited about 4/5 minutes to be helped, told who was taking our order that it was our first time there and we had no idea how anything worked and he didn't say anything or give us any help. He actually had to take his phone out and pause whatever was playing in his earbuds that he had in his ear to hear us. Wasn't told that they stop serving/restocking the "buffet" literally ten minutes after we ordered it. We were able to get one plate before they started tearing it down. The buffet was DISGUSTING! You could tell food had been out for hours, it was half cold, soggy, and nasty. Their salad bar is next to nothing, the "cheese" they had in it was literally one giant clump that they had a knife in for you to break apart. The staff were not friendly, we were in the middle of eating when someone asked if we were planning on having anymore because they were planning on tearing it down. It took us 3 minutes to find a table because they were all filthy and there were maybe 4 tables that had people at them in the whole restaurant .Not to mention in our opinion they are extremely overpriced! All this is coming from someone who has worked in a restaurant (including a pizza restaurant for 3 years) their entire adulthood. Absolutely unreal and unpleasant experience and we will never be coming back. I don't recommend this place to anyone. We stopped for a late lunch with no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Let's start with saying this is not a buffet. This place offers a small salad bar that has soup, Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. Regarding the food, the broasted potatoes and cheese sticks were fine. The salad bar was lacking fresh food and was not very clean. One of our pizzas had next to no sauce on it, very little sausage and lots of green olives and the other pizza was Taco supreme which did not have the beans or onions on it very little meat or black olives and tons of lettuce, tomatoes and crushed tortilla chips. The pizza was served with packages of salsa and sour cream piled on top of the pizza which was rather disgusting. The prices are totally out of line for the quality of the 12" pizzas and appetizers we order. We made the mistake to order food off a menu with no prices on it from a restaurant that advertised being voted #1 in Janesville. Once we ordered and were given the total, we should have cancelled the order and left but we thought it deserved a chance. I've heard about this place for years, driven by it countless times, but it was always "We should really try that sometime..." So when my family and I were in the area and hungry, that sometime became today! And we splurged. The pizza was super fast and fantastic (cheese was salty and rich... so very important in WI 😅), we also got a bucket of chicken and that was great too! Very juicy, crispy skin. One thing to be aware of though, it came out VERY hot, so get an app and let it cool! Lol! And the cheese curds were awesome as well. Space wise its on the small to medium size, you order at the counter in the rear of the building and tucked just around that corner is a full on arcade! Tight quarters but tons of games. Staff was super friendly. There aren't a ton of menu items. It really is a pizza place that also happens to have great chicken with some apps and sides available too.

The only reason I docked a star was because when we walked in we were a bit confused on what to do (seat yourself, order in the back) and they seemed to be short staffed as it took them a tick to notice us (we did come in when it was really slow).
