San Miguel de Allende — Restaurant in Janesville

I’m updating my review to reflect the more recent experience I had at this location.

My husband and I originally went to eat here for the first time during their lunch hour on a weekday, while it was slow. We experienced great service and food.

Fast forward about a year and we went back, but this time we brought my parents with. This was on Nov 16th of 2024. It was a busier time of day, dinner on a weekend, so I expected the service to be a little slower. What I didn’t expect was to have some of the worst service I have yet to experience at a restaurant. I think we got the worst waiter working that evening.

Having experienced great food here, I was shocked when the food my family and I received was just meh. The salsa also tasted just off— kind of sour and fermented. In addition to this, I got a case of the worst food poisoning I’ve ever had that same evening after finishing my meal. My dad also felt weird after his meal.

I can safely say I will not be back to this restaurant, nor will I recommend it to people I know. Once you get food poisoning after eating somewhere, it’s really hard to not wonder how seriously they take...

Really disappointed with this place. My husband and I used to come here at least a few times a month. I’m a huge pineapple fan so I would always get the al pastor tacos. The last time we were there, something must have fallen onto my dish because when I took a bite of the taco my mouth about burned off. I’m not a fan of spice, and this was sooooo bad. My husband IS a spicy fan, tried it, and said it was too hot for him. So I complained to the server who said that it’s just the meat and I could order something else. My mouth was so hot I didn’t want anything so we just left. On the way out we spoke with the owner and told him the situation. He just said it’s my tastebuds… like really? I’ve ordered this dish 10 times, never with an issue. I loved their food, but the fact that they couldn’t just accept responsibility and apologize made me no longer a customer. They just gaslighted me saying that it’s not spicy to them so it...

We came out here for some dinner. We got some fajitas and some ceviche. The fajitas were very hot and fresh. They did very well with the portions considering they are not the cheapest thing on the menu, so I was very happy about the seasoning on the steak and chicken, was very good. Also, the shrimp were decent size. There were no complaints at all with the fajitas. I would get them again. The ceviche was very good and very fresh you get a really decent portion. The margaritas were very solid we tried both lime and mango, and they had a very good taste and a good amount of kick. Micheladas were really good as well.
