La Michoacana in Janesville is located in a small, colorful plaza just across from the Janesville Mall.
The space is really eye-catching and fun especially for kids. I brought my niece, and she loved how bright and playful it looked. She even made a little outfit from their display accessories, which was such a cute experience.
That said, the overall visit didnât live up to the visual charm. When we walked in, no one greeted us. Two staff members were behind the counter, but neither offered a hello or much conversation. They did let us sample a few flavors, which was nice, but the atmosphere felt flat.
They offer a good number of non-dairy and vegan-friendly options, but most of them were fruity sorbets not creamy milk-based choices. The flavors we tried were okay, but nothing memorable. My niece ordered the vanilla and said it was way too sweet. I couldnât finish mine either it was just overwhelmingly sugary. Unfortunately, she couldnât finish it.
A single scoop came to nearly $7, and it was a very small portion. They also wouldnât allow us to split a scoop, which felt a bit inflexible, especially for the price.
The shop looks great from the outside and has potential, but the ice cream and customer service just didnât match the vibe. Honestly, weâve had better-quality ice cream from the store.
If you want great vegan ice cream in Janesville, go to Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream on Mineral Point. They have creamy, oat milk based options like Mint Oreo and Cookie Dough that are truly delicious and worth the trip. I wrote a review about them separately, and theyâve clearly earned their high ratings.
To the owners, Iâd suggest a few improvements: greet customers with a smile, be a little more flexible, and most importantly lower the prices and increase the portion sizes so the experience matches the cost.
Would love to see this place grow, but right now itâs just not...
Read moreHANDS DOWN one of the BEST ice cream shops in town! Their ice cream is homemade and you can tell itâs made with quality ingredients. They have very delicious and unique flavors you wonât find elsewhere. Our favorites are Gansito which is a Mexican birthday cake and mango sorbet (which is vegan) I also highly recommend the coconut agua fresca, itâs made with real coconut water and dairy and youâll find yourself sipping on coconut pieces as well. They offer amazing shakes, banana splits and also snacks such as nachos, Dorilocos and hot cheetos with cheese. The environment is always bright, fun and welcoming. They have plenty of seating and is family friendly! Donât forget to take a pic on their cute selfie wall mural. Prices are on the low/reasonable side for the ice cream being homemade compared to others in area and they are always so helpful and friendly!...
Read moreThe service was absolutely amazing! I was a first time customer tonight and the employee working was very willing to explain what flavors were lactose free, popular items, how everything was homemade, etc. He was very patient, for I took a while to decide what I wanted. He was very friendly and executed everything excellently. I was very pleased and DEFINITELY will be going back! The only thing I wish was that there was a tip line on the receipt because I didnât have any cash and couldnât tip on the receipt. If I could tip or had cash, I definitely wouldâve given a very generous tip:) Thank you for the great...
