Usually, if I have a bad experience I will give it another shot so that is what I did and this will be a 2 part review. 1st visit we came to celebrate our new home after a long move. Our kids are 6 & 11 and behave pretty well. We got seated fairly quickly and then it took some time to get our drinks as it was a busy Friday night. We asked the waitress what she recommended as an appetizer since it was our first visit and her generic answer of “it’s all good” was the response. So we ordered the stuffed mushrooms and they were probably the best thing we got from this restaurant. Then we go to order food and here’s where things go south. She had already been very short with us which is frustrating as a customer in a nice establishment but this topped the cake. My husband ordered, my son ordered and then I asked a couple questions which she was annoyed by and then I ordered. She literally says “I need to go take an order over here” and walks off without taking my daughter’s order. So when we see her 10 min later we said “hey, you didn’t take her order.” She said “Oh, sorry what does she want?”. Starving hungry is the only reason we didn’t just leave. So my daughters late ordered food comes out about ten minutes sooner than our food which wasn’t a big deal. She forgot my salad before the dinner and when I mentioned it, she was annoyed AGAIN. At this point we thought the food better be out of this world to be in business with such poor service. We got our food and it was just very bland. It was presented well and looked good just lacked flavor. Forward to 2nd visit, I took my daughter to lunch. The waitress (a different one) was very pleasant and kind. She made sure our water was full and answered our questions politely. Our food was better this time, I ordered the chicken jalapeño pasta and liked it but felt it was overpriced for the quality. I mentioned to the waitress I appreciated the better experience and she was very sweet. I would go back but I couldn’t give it any better than 3 stars. We travel a lot and have tried food around the world... this place is very average and overpriced with...
Read moreSeeing this restaurant so horribly diminished hurts my heart. It was just not clean. It did not smell fresh. The service was bad. And the food was just horrible. My husband got the Alfredo and it had a gritty consistency, the chicken was dry and the noodles limp, not to mention it was not hot. I ordered the house salad and seafood bisque. The bisque was clearly not fresh but rather had just been warmed up. It was spicy, not tasty, and the seafood was rubbery. I actually didn't even eat it. This used to be one of my favorite items on the menu. I am not sure how the house salad got messed up but the here we are. The lettuce was limp amd the salad was completely overdressed. I didn't eat it either. Both completely inedible. My husband wanted tarimisu. The lady fingers were dry and something just tasted off. We complained to the waitress and she told us it was strange we thought it tasted weird because they had "just opened a new box." Tiramisu from a box?? Aside from the terrible food quality, we saw a woman with greasy hair, sweat dripping, wearing jean shorts and a tank top serving food, her armpit brushing near our heads, as she had the tray above her head. It was unpleasant to say the least. I asked our server about it because it was just not what you would expect from Madison's, unprofessional, and dangerous to have the tray up high. She told me it was one of the owners. We will never be back ever again. Such a terrible,...
Read moreDecided to have a nice dinner out tonight, so we went into Madison's Restaurant for a change of pace. We waited about 10 minutes for table seating, which wasn't bad on a Friday evening.
Service was outstanding, as we ordered up our dinner, the I.B. Burger with pepper Jack cheese and Onion Rings for me, Lasagna with a Caeser salad for my son. Our waitress brought carafes for refilling our sodas, and my son got a plate of bread with butter.
Our food arrived in short order. My burger was thick and juicy, prepared medium well, and cooked perfectly. I received slivered onions, a dill pickle wedge, tomatoes, and lettuce to top my burger with. I think the bun was brioche-style, soft, with a slightly chewy bite, which was quite pleasing to the palate.
The onion rings appeared to be beer-battered, and they were nicely crispy, with flavorful onion within. Very good rings!
My son enjoyed his lasagna, and it was big enough he took a to-go box home with salad in one, and lasagna in the other.
Madison's is a pleasant dining experience, filling an old building downtown. It is bigger inside than you might suspect from its front. There are tables for multiple sized groups, they have outside tables on the street, and a bar serving mixed drinks and beers inside. Restrooms are located downstairs. The atmosphere is cozy-dark. They also have outside catering for events.
