Don't let this rating deter you from trying this place. They haven't been open for much more than a month but they have quite a few kinks to work out in the business. My husband and I passed by this place en route to somewhere else and came back to it. We order the meatball banh mi, the grilled chicken banh mi, the passion fruit juice, and the fried spring rolls. The spring rolls were old, they clearly had been sitting in the warmer for some time, likely a couple of days. The filling was sparse compared to the outside, which seemed to be an overall theme to the dishes we ordered. The passion fruit "juice" was just some passion fruit jam/tea mixture diluted with water and a whole lot of ice. I would not recommend ordering this item or the spring rolls.
When the banh mi came, my husband's did not have pâté as listed nor did mine have the tomato sauce it listed and both were very skimpy on the ingredients. That being said, the flavors were quite tasty and the bread was avsolutely perfect. If they can beef up the sandwiches a bit and put all of the ingredients in there that they list, they will have a winning product. I wouldn't go back for the banh mi as it is, but I would go back if they were improved. Additionally, they used poblano peppers cut into strips rather than the typical jalapeños.
I understand that margins are quite thin in restaurants and starting out it is tempting to cut back on the ingredients to make them stretch further, but serving a sub par item is not going to garner return customers, which are typically needed for the success of a restaurant. I hope they improve their product because it would be wonderful if...
Read moreÔng Mười Vietnamese Sandwich serves the most delicious bánh mì in town! Their homemade bread is fresh from the oven — soft, puffy, crusty and so tasty and, you could enjoy it on its own, just like back home, Saigon Vietnam.
My favorite is the grilled beef sandwich (bò nướng), perfectly seasoned — not too salty or bland and the grilled beef was not to dry with the perfect amount of moisture. My son loves the crispy roasted pork (heo quay), which you can’t find anywhere else in Chicago, and my daughter is a fan of the Grilled ham sandwich( nem nướng.)
We keep coming back for more — my whole family loves it!
Highly, highly recommend! I’d rate it a 10/10 for flavor, authenticity, and freshness. If I could give 7 stars, I would!
Tip: Order ahead by phone, especially on weekends or holidays, to avoid the wait. Thank...
Read more#1, Classic cold cut bánh mì done just right. Bread was a standout — crusty but fresh and easy to bite through, with a soft interior that soaked up all the flavors without getting soggy. The pickled daikon and carrot were crisp and lightly sweet, balanced by cucumber wedges and just a hint of jalapeño and cilantro. Pâté was subtle but flavorful, and the meats were sliced a little thicker than usual, which I appreciated for the extra bite and chew.
Mayo was butter yellow, eggy, and really nice — reminded me of the good housemade stuff. It’s a slightly smaller sandwich than some others around town, but at ~$8, it’s a great value and incredibly well-executed. I’ll definitely be back — next time with a friend, or more likely, just getting two...
