Hong Kong Buffet — Restaurant in Jefferson Township

BEWARE ROACH INFESTED!!! This place doesn't deserve Not even one But had to leave review to warn ppl!!! Do not eat here!!! I was here on 7/8/17 with my family for dinner, had never been before so we decided to try it. Way over priced, the selection was not at all pleasing but kid was starving so we gave it a chance. BIG MISTAKE!!! Food was old, I asked if they could bring Fresh trays out and no one understood English! Half way through the meal I saw a fkn huge ass roach the size of my finger nail crawling on the floor!! I said oh hell no, the waitress saw me looking at it and went over quickly and wiped it up. I went over to the counter saw another one quickly run under the counter. I went up and asked for a refund because of what i was seeing. The lady said they didn't have roaches and I explained to her my husband seen it crawling too, the waitress saw the roach cuz she quickly wiped it up w her rag as it was crawling On the floor up the counter near the food. The owner refused to give my money back and argued the fact that I was seeing things. than the waitress denied even wiping up the roach w her rag, she said she was wiping the counter. She said they had no roaches and pointed to the health dept certificate on wall. I asked to see the paper and for them to read the number off of it, they refused! If u don't have roaches there shouldn't be a prob w giving me the health dept number but I googled it and found it in an instant that's how dumb these ppl are. I than told everyone in the restaurant to stop eatting the food cuz they have roaches and the place is fkn dirty. Still refused to give me a refund and kept trying to reassure everyone in the restaurant eatting that they don't have ROACHES!! I don't have a prob paying for my food when I go out, I have a prob eatting in a roach infested fkn restaurant!!! $35 is chump change so why am I gona make a big deal over the $ if there ain't fkn roaches!! The lady said call the health dept we have the certificate. lol dumb ass ppl how old is that fkn certificate cuz clearly they havnt inspected the place in a long time. Calling the dept in the am when they open to file a complaint big time!! If u eat here you've been warned!! My suggestion is to not ever eat here cuz it's fkn...

I called ahead of time before driving a half hour to this restaurant to ask about pricing as I have two children with my oldest particularly asking me to experience an Asian buffet style restaurant. I was told specific prices for a 9 and 5 year old which was significantly less than regular adult pricing ( I don't remember the exact price, I think maybe $10-$12 or something like that) Makes sense right? Kids aren't usually full price anywhere. I was fine with the price given to me over the phone so we drove there a half hour. I arrive and mentioned I was the one on the phone with the kids, etc. I was instantly told "no your daughter will be full price because she's 5 feet tall. And she's too big" I said "excuse me? I'm not sure what height has to do with pricing but my child is pretty average height for her age." She was also wearing platform shoes which may have added about 1-2 inches to her height but never the less he didn't mention ANYTHING WHATSOEVER over the phone about height and INSTEAD of apologizing for HIS poor communication over the phone, he proceeds to tell me "you can stay or leave, WE DON'T CARE!" I responded with "this is how you offer customer service?" He responds with "I'm the OWNER I don't care." I turned to my children and said "let's go!" I would have accepted the pricing had he been polite but he was extremely RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL and there's nothing WORSE than a businessowner who lives on a HIGH HORSE with no humility or appreciation for his customers and poor customer service. I too run businesses and this is NOT how I would ever speak to a potential customer. I will never go back and definitely will share my experience with everyone I know who tends to dine in the area. I also noticed when I happen to glance over at the dining area it looked FILTHY so not eating here was a BLESSING in disguise. I found a better spot with a buffet and MUCH better customer service. We went to Yummy. Reasonably priced, family oriented vibe and I happen to notice they seem really sweet with kids....

Hong Kong Buffet ! I think they make good profit enough to get quality cable for their TVs , which can not keep up with signal , I am still do not get it . It is the most bad ass buffet I have ever been in Chicago . I discovered it in 2014 when I moved to Rogers Park area . I noticed that their food were questionable not a good quality even close to other great places i have been in the city . They do not have a lot selection of dishes , and food taste very acidic sometimes. I was just there last Monday . I tried their fried chicken it was really bad , chicken tasted like vinegar drop on my tongue and I spit it all out my mouth in my paper towel . when a food industry is clean , you can tell immediately with eyes what you can expect once you walked in . Please if you love yourself , do not go at Hong Kong Buffet no matter how hungry you might be , because you do not want to eat and get sick later on . They really need some big Inspections at this place in all sections , food quality , SANITATION ( sure bathroom is horrible) , waitress and busboy ( do not look presentable) , sure cold food . I can not list all in here go to see yourself . Someone said in their review , plastic rice , yes their yellow rice...
