We went in for dinner on a whim when Ramon, one of the owners, popped out as we were walking by and welcomed us to give it a try. One glance at a big, delicious looking plate of food sitting in front of one of the diners convinced us we wouldn’t regret it. We ordered the Joy Burger and a daily special (Seco de carne - a sort of stewed beef). We loved both so much! Finally, a burger that isn’t the sad, overly greasy cheeseburger with Big Mac sauce that so many joints in Logan offer! The patty was thick even though we got a single - can’t imagine what 2 Pattie’s looks like! The fries were awesome too. I begged Ramon to add the stewed beef dish to the regular menu - I’d come back again just for that. The beef was tender and the sauce/gravy it was in was so good I mixed my rice in it to soak it all up. The plantains were good and not greasy. So happy to have a unique place in the neighborhood like Joy! Will definitely become a regular...
Read moreThis brand new spot in Logan Square was great. As a pescatarian I was pretty sad when ground control closed, but I was really pleasantly surprised with this spot. Firstly it’s byob which is great and saves money. I got the portabello burger which was delicious with poblano peppers and mozzarella. I also shared the calamari which was great. The service was quick and nice. I have no complaints and I’ll definitely be back. Also, living in Logan square I get tired of my sandwiches being $17 and fries being $6 extra. These sandwiches and burgers come with a choice of fries or salad. For three people to get an app and entree, it came to $55 pre tip. That really can’t be beat in this area. I hope they do well, definitely check...
Read moreI had the Chuleta Grileada (Pork Chop). It came with beans, rice, french fries, fried plantain, and a small salad. The beans were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The white rice was a pleasant surprise. It looks plain but is far from it. The yellow sauce had a nice kick but didn't linger in the mouth. The pork chop is bone in, charred to a lovely balance of sweet and smokey. The meat around the edges was a bit dry (to be expected when grilled), but the meat nearest the bone was very moist. The french fries weren't very crispy, but my daughter and I enjoyed them. Everything was devoured. We finished with the flan! I loved how friendly the staff is, they are very welcoming. The portions are large, and the...
