My wife and I were married in this restaurant. Minh, the owner, is a warm and friendly person who takes great pride in her work. The food was fantastic. We had a buffet of Lemongrass Pork/Chicken/Shrimp Bun, Lemongrass Pork Banh mi, crispy pork spring rolls, fried tofu, and spicy sweet basil chicken. To our surprise, she made a variety of fruit smoothies for our guests and made edible centerpieces for our tables. Really, we cannot say enough good things about Minh and her restaurant. Half of our guests had never eaten Vietnamese before, and at the end of the night we had no leftovers. We could not have been happier with the food and the attention Minh and her team brought to our wedding. They were constantly on the ball in terms of refreshing the drinks and making sure the buffet was in order with everything our guests required. Minh was very attentive and considerate, she made sure the entire evening went smoothly and was packing to-go bags for our guests as they left.
The restaurant, itself, is beautiful brick and exposed wood beams that provides a great atmosphere for any event. All of our guests couldn't say enough good things about their experience there with the food and venue. We are looking forward to many anniversary celebrations at King Pho, and would really like to express our gratitude towards Minh and her staff. The food was among the best we've eaten and she made our wedding as special as we could...
Read moreLocated on Devon Ave., between Central Ave. & the Metra tracks, because of some road construction on Devon Ave. at Lehigh Ave. there is no street parking in front, but there is parking behind the restaurant, with a rear entrance. The interior of King Pho was decorated well. King Pho was busy, even though it was a bit late for dinner. We chose the King appetizer platter which came with four crab Rangoon, two large spring rolls that were cut in half to a perfect size, three crispy egg rolls and 5 crispy coconut balls. For an entree we went with (#43) Singapore noodles. We also ordered (#83) the beef mushroom entree. The portions were very large, and there was more than enough to take home, For myself, I ordered (#25) bank mi BBQ pork. However, I thought that the amount of meat on the sandwich was really light and I would have liked a bit more BBQ sauce. I also thought that the crab Rangoon on the appetizer platter was also really light on the crab stuffing, with a huge shell. I still think that the service could be markedly improved, since it seems as though the staff doesn't want to make eye contact, unless they have to. Improve that and King Pho could be a really...
Read moreOnly had the Pho and fried rice the few times I ate here or ordered take out so far but was super impressed by my local Edgebrook neighborhood restaurant. I had the round steak and brisket Pho and the fried rice with chicken and both were very good. The Pho is large, which I think is pretty standard for Pho, but would say almost enough for two people even. The broth is very good, and tastes very much like a recipe that has been passed down for generations. But I like to add the sriracha, chili oil, hoisin and fish sauce so you can make it your own. And they don’t skimp on the meat either. They give you a big portion of steak and brisket so that was a plus. Also loved the fried rice cuz it’s just good fried rice, not sugary or full of soy and the chicken was thighs and so full of flavor. And again, gave a big portion of chicken. Also well priced - great value!...
