Edgebrook Cycle — Local services in Jefferson Township

While I really liked how informative the staff was and how they were aware of how important it was to take covid seriously, they really failed me when I needed understanding. My partner took my wallet for groceries and I forgot to get it back from her. When I arrived to pick up my bike and realized I didn't have my wallet, I had my wife text an image of my credit card and ID per Edgebrook's instruction.

Although it was obviously me on the ID image, and the service rep knew it was my bike (we had a long conversation when I dropped of my unique/rare bike), they would not charge my card. They asked if i could do apple pay, but i don't have that service.

They would not take a Paypal payment either (just as secure/verifiable as apple pay). They said it was to protect me and them, so I had to go all the way back to lincoln square to get my wallet.

But when I arrived with my card, that has no signature on the back, all they did was charge it. They didn't even look at my ID at all. Now, if having me drive all the way back home was to protect me and them, they would've at least taken time to verify it was my card. They did not.

An image of my license with my face on it (I brought my face with me so it was obviously me), an image of my CC with my name and CC number, as well as me being able to verify my CC account by logging in to my account on my phone Is way more verification than what they ended up doing!

Instead, I ended up being 40 minutes late to work -wages I will definitely be docked - for them to do way less verification to "protect" both of us!

I was really looking forward to using their service in the future, but now I will have to find another shop....

I had a wonderful experience with Mary at Edgebrook Cycle’s as a first time customer. Back in Oct of 2022, Bianchi announced a brand new bike that ticked all my wants. Being a new bike, from a famous brand, and on the tail end of supply chain issues, to get the bike for this season was a long stretch. I frantically search the internet and LBS to find someone that would take my order. All refused as they didn’t have info on the bike from Bianchi USA and didn’t seem interested in fighting for an allocation. Edgebrook was the first to say they would happily take a deposit with no funny business on pricing. Then Mary from Edgebrook spent forever harassing Bianchi USA to get me an early allocation (I think I received the first one in the USA in my selected color, trim, and size). Mary was wonderful in regularly updating me on where the order stood and keeping on Bianchi USA. The bike arrived inline with expectations, and they did a great job of putting it together inline with my instructions. The entire time, everyone I worked with at Edgebrook was kind and great to work with. ...

Just moved into the area, was excited that I would have a neighborhood bike shop that I (and my family) can rely on for the next 30 years of my mortgage. Requested to have the bike looked at just to see what work might need to be done.

Whilst inspecting, the tech decided to screw in one of my front derailleur limit screws. Then advised that I would need a new chain.

Cost would be: Chain: $35 Labor: $15 Labor on the front derailleur: $15

Wait front derailleur - I haven't agreed to any work to be done yet? "Oh, I can screw it back to where it was."

Left immediately and went to Cosmic Bikes Inc. (4641 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60630)

Chain: $20 Labor: $15 They would take a look at the front derailleur for free.
