Take out order placed on 1/13/24 at 7:35pm. Restaurant called at 7:41pm to say there were out of one item. No problem this happens. Ordered a different item. Reconfirmed when food would be ready, told 20-25 minutes. Arrived at 8:10. Food wasn’t ready. Order came out, only two meals in bag. Person went back to check. One of the dinners wasn’t ready read. 8:30pm asked to talk with manager as food still was not ready.
Christie, manager was short and said it was late as we asked for fried chicken instead of bbq and that was a custom order for the bbq combo dinner. Said I could have been told that. Christie may have been having a bad day but still she wasn’t pleasant to talk with.
Got home one of the orders was wrong. Called back continued to have a not so good experience. Even though in the end the order was comped I do not recommend this restaurant due to the rudeness of the manager and owner Christie. I won’t be going there again.
Updated response to business response: What you could have done differently. Be honest and up front. First I’m given two dinners instead of the three I paid for. I caught that after paying and then the food being brought out to me. I’m then told the pork chop dinner is still being prepared by one of your staff. Then you tell me it’s late because we asked for fried chicken instead of bbq with the bbq order, basically saying it was our fault it was late.
Remember you called me back after I placed the original order to tell me you only had enough pork chops for one dinner. I was flexible and changed the second pork chop dinner to baked chicken. That order was even messed up. I received fries not a baked potato as ordered. I reconfirmed the pick up time and was given the same time.
All you had to do was be up front when I placed the order. Instead of telling me it will be ready in 25-30 minutes you should have said 45 minutes. And be honest. Was it the pork chop dinner or the request for fried chicken instead of bbq chicken with the combo bbq order or some other reason my order was over 15...
Read moreTerrible terrible. I am so so sad to write this review. Pete’s has always been my #1 pizza place in the city. Probably ever. Anytime anyone asked for recommendations I always recommended Pete’s. The quality of Pete’s has gone DOWN. Back before the remodel and even recently they were amazing! I remember we saw it on Chicagos Best and we went, the restaurant was super tiny and antique with just a few booths, then they remodeled and got bigger, but now they’ve lost it. The last time I ate here with my sister, we had pizza and it gave us food poisoning later that night. This place has never once made me sick and I tend to avoid a restaurant permanently if they make me sick. However, today is my birthday and my husband asked what I wanted for dinner I said let’s order Pete’s, it’s been a while, despite the food poisoning Pete’s has always held a special place in my heart. We ordered $100 of food ($95 to be exact) and everything was HORRIBLE. the fries weren’t fully cooked, they were soggy and still had some crunch to them, the onion rings were very dry and fell apart easily, also not fully cooked, our pizza and panzarotti were terrible too. The sauce recipe has definitely changed because it lacks flavor and it tasted super watered down and our panzarotti, upon cutting it, a bunch of watered down sauce came out and the cheese was still somewhat shredded and not fully melted. The fettuccine Alfredo lacked flavor and was covered in a TON of sauce. Now I have all this food hoping to have leftovers for tomorrow and I don’t even want the leftovers. Overall, everything was terrible, awful, and I really wish I could get my money back because this was a waste of money. Never ordering from Pete’s...
Read moreI'd give this place another chance because it's in the neighborhood and I want it to do well. I've enjoyed some of their takeout in the past. Still tonight was rough. I think the staff might have been exhausted and understaffed and there was a huge party in the restaurant when we arrived. Only one staff member seemed to be even pleasant. The pizza we ordered was so strange. The classic tavern cracker crust was soggy and anytime we tried to serve a piece the cheese stuck together at the top and slid off of the crust with the toppings. That might be because it was Pizza with a lot of veggies. I really want to be as open as possible to the fact that it was an unusual experience. I also had the sausage appetizer and most of it was terribly overcooked covered in pretty decent marinara sauce. The iced tea was either very old or made from instant powder. The soda that my kids had tasted like the lines hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long. I loved the Pete's in Rogers Park and have lived here in the neighborhood for 4 years. I'd like to have the same positive association with this location. I hope that the management of this restaurant sees this review and considers making some changes. If staff are overworked then it's time to look at paying so that you can hire more friendly and kind people. And there need to be regular cleaning regimens of the durable equipment for beverages. Additionally, you have to maintain high standards for the food that's coming out of the kitchen so that...
