PUBLIC HEALTH CONCERNS: MOLD ON THE FOOD I love this restaurant that's why it is hard for me to write this review. I was there yesterday with my fiancé and we ordered few things, among them artisan board which I like very much. I noticed that three grapes had mold on them so without making any drama I just asked if we could have grapes replaced and that was it. The bartender brought us new grapes, at that point I was full so I just asked for a to go box. Today I opened the box to have the left over for breakfast and noticed that many of the grapes were molded yet again. Now, this made me quite upset because I was served moldy grapes for the second time. After consulting with my fiancé I decided to call the restaurant and ask for full refund. I feel instead of writing a bad review I wanted them just to make this situation right so that we could put it behind us and still be their customers. Like I said I always liked this restaurant and I am definitely not a drama queen so that I hate situations like that. Well I did call and spoke with Todd I believe and he definitely handled this conversation not like I would imagine a manager or owner would handle it at all. First of all he said that he can not do anything because the food left the restaurant so that we just could leave grapes overnight and they molded. ( Did anyone see grapes mold overnight???? I haven't, however the point is that we did told a bartender I found 3 molded grapes and asked for replacement). Secondly he said he can give us a partial credit because grapes are JUST A GARNISH not a full meal. WOW, just a garnish, so I guess it is ok to pay for food nearly $140 and as long main course is fresh than JUST moldy grapes shouldn't worry any customers. Anyways, do I want to go any further with my explanation??? I don't think so, I think everything is crystal clear. Now a little math for Mr. Todd; Dear Todd we have been coming to Legno, possibly for the last three years, we would be there probably 3-4 times a month spending at least $150 each evening, that's give or take $500-600 each month. Now I wrote a very explicit review that will probably restrain few customers to visit your restaurant. Now you tell me, was your arrogant approach worth it? You will have time to think it over.

I've placed a pickup oder with an item called "Nutella Bites". What do you expected from a dish with this name? Something with Nutella, right? Guess what: these are pieces of baked dough topped with sugar with sides of ice cream syrup. Does any of the sauces has at least the nutella flavor? Nope, it's the classic hersheys chocolate, raspberry and something that they call vanilla but seems to be caramel. I'm giving 2 starts for the pizza dough, which is light, very well baked and I enjoyed it. However the pizza filling, despite of good ingredients, missed seasoning. My husband ordered a diavola soppresata with italian sausage, no soppresata was found in the pizza, only sausage. I just think it is very frustrating and it is not honest to offer something in the menu, sell it and do not deliver what the customer paid for. If you dont have the ingredients on that day: make the customer know, let they decide. This is being transparent and honest. I came to the reviews to see what people were saying about the place, unfortunately I've done that after getting my order and realizing the bad choice I've done. Multiple people stating that paid for some specific cheese or any other ingredient and do not receive it. You should change your dish names and dish descriptions. I totally wanted to request my money back but I am so frustrated that I don't even wanna go to that place and fight for something like that. Edit: I've chatted with a representative and they offered to bring me the same dessert with real nutella. The service was very kind, but there is a lot to improve in terms of flavor and experience.

I decided to finally give this place a try… and honestly, what a mistake. The whole experience felt like some kind of patience test, and let’s just say I failed. The hostess set the tone right away — slamming tables around and looking annoyed that we dared to come in and eat. Super welcoming, right? Our server wasn’t much better. Slow, uninterested, and clearly irritated by having to, well, do their job. Asking for anything felt like I was asking for the moon. The food? Totally average. Which might’ve been fine if the service wasn’t such a disaster, but it’s hard to enjoy a meal when you feel like an unwanted guest. Dessert was just another letdown, and waiting that long for something so forgettable was almost comical. Now, I’ve got to give credit where it’s due: the busboy was the star of the night. Friendly, efficient, and honestly the only one who seemed to care. He deserves way better than the rest of that team. At the end of the day, I don’t know how this place is still open. Save your time, your money, and your sanity — there are way better options out there.

This review is a couple days old and while temporarily put to the side!! It was not fofgotten and being relatively new to area!! I'm glad I found it and can certainly recommend if you want food that is delicious and fresh Legno is the place to go!!! The food I had was a revelation! Plus they deliver. I had probably one of the most delicious meals in my life. I'm just sorry I did not take any pictures. I ordered the braised rib and added the mashed potatoes as a side!! Braised short rib is a dish that can be easily messed up! But this order was perfection on a plate. The meat is Super tender and the gravy mixed withemashed potato and the delicious carrots and Brussels sprouts completed a plate fit for a king!the chef should be complemented on such a well balanced meal! And as a treat order their lobster mac and cheese. I can picture this meal as a winning dish on a Gordon Ramsay cooking completion tv show it was that good! Not a criticism but the mac and cheese could use some breadcrumbs also the soups are a rare miss the French onion soup visually is this white paint appearing cup of strangeness. If your expecting a traditional bubblingfrench onion soup be prepared for a letdown!! Mae sure you have order read back afterCing order. It's a bit pricey butwell worth as a special occasion or date night you will not be disappointed! Delivery is friendly and the menu is big enough so everyone can find a choice!!! The mac and cheese leg o special isworth going for individually!! Just need to work on phone service and make sure you ask for plastic unresolved wear. Was told in no uncertain terms you have to ask as they just are not included. Remember delivery orders might be more than one person eating!!! Again well worth a visit and try something you haven't had before!!! The braised short rib meal is a meal you will remember for a very long time!had a chocolatecannoli for desert which was Meh a tip don't send desert items on top of scorching hot entrees as it destroyed the...

I'll start by saying that I would give Legno 4.5 stars. The restaurant was comfortable and the decor was really nice. Our food was good and I'll say more about that momentarily. Service wasn't bad, but it also was quite slow and there were long periods where our server wasn't available BUT I want to be fair we were there for Dinner after a big Easter Brunch service, so it's possible they weren't at their best after such a busy morning.

For dinner, I got the Tartufo pizza with the Beet and Spinach salad and my partner got the Fettucine Alfredo and a meatball. The salad was a bit of a let down, it was mostly a spinach and goat cheese salad with a few beets, not bad but not exactly what I was expecting. The pizza was excellent, on par with the best wood-fired / Neapolitan-style pizzas I've had in the city. It was a bit too much for one person, it would probably be just right for two if you shared a salad or an appetizer as well. The meatball was good and very hearty, and the alfredo was good, although worth noting it's a traditional style alfredo so generally a bit less creamy / salty then some folks might expect. They also brought out bread, oil, and parmesan cheese for us while we waited, and the bread was quite good.

Overall, a good meal, with the pizza legitimately qualifying as great. It was very reasonable, with the extra items we ordered, tax, and tip we were still around ~30 pp which is less than I expected. I'll definitely go again and I'd recommend it if you're in the area - I'm not sure if I'd go out of my way but I think it's comparable to most of the good 'authentic' Italian I've had in Chicago so if you're craving that it might be...
