We were in Chicago for a long weekend and decided to take the train to get some proper Polish Paczki. A ten minute walk from the station to the establishment was not bad. We ordered 6 paczki (they were piping hot), some home made compote and a few other items, all to go. While we were making up our minds, the lady who took our order must have overheard that we were wondering about the sweet buns they were also baking. She asked if we were traveling by car and we said we took the train from downtown, she helped repackage our purchase as to make sure it was not too steamed up and easy to carry. She didn’t have to do this, but was very happy to help. Her service and hospitality A+. To our surprise, when we arrived at the hotel, we found an extra item packed with paczki…it was a sweet bun. The only thing I regret, is that we didn’t plan to have a meal while there. Their selection of original homemade Polish favorites was great, and the air was filled with amazing aroma of homemade food. Paczki were...
Read moreBest Perogis I’ve had since my best friends mom made me some. I’ve tried those frozen ones and what not and it just doesn’t compare. These melt in your mouth and there’s just the right amount of filling in them. I ordered cheese and potato Ones and they are to die for! As for their paczkis I was worried because they had just One flavor and it was well worth the risk. They are now my FAVORITE. Best paczkis I’ve ever had. The dough is so fresh and fluffy. The filling is just perfect. It’s some sort of plum/prune/ fruit mix I believe. I do not like prunes or anything but this is perfect. My husband even said it was delicious and he’s just super picky overall. So happy we gave this place a try. Wish I did long time ago since it’s right down the street from me. Thank you!!!!!!...
Read moreI wanted to have an authentic polish experience with a friend and this place couldn’t be more authentic. From atmosphere to food to languages spoken, we felt like we were transported to another place. While the stuffed cabbage was our favorite, other food was good. We liked polish style goulash with pancakes, paczki (polish style donut) and rumbo (dessert with rum inside). Iced tea/fruit punch went well with all the food.
We witnessed a long line form often with people buying bakery items and food to go. While we were among many who dined it was nice to be part of a busy cafe while enjoying our food. The staff were nice people and I want to come back again. Soup of the day is on my list to try plus...
