Christmas Day morning we walk into Baker's Square. No one there to seat us. We wait about 5 minutes. Oh, I forgot about the servers doing sidework in the booth to the East of the host stand, that didn't want to acknowledge us. We get seated. 3 to 4 other tables in the restaurant, not busy. No server for 15 mins. Finally Moises P. Greets us, no apology. We give him our drink order & ask for our water to arrive quickly. My mom has a bad cough. Here comes our server returning w/ only 1 bev. on his tray & it's for another table. No waters still. Another table in the better server's station gives their fresh glass of water to my mother. Now I have to flag him down (hate to do). Form a distance he says he will be back w/ our drinks. NOPE. Comes out & takes another table's order that was sat after us. Finally he's back w/ our drinks & to take our order. We order 2 dinner entrees, 2 burgers (one of each) w/ a fried egg on one, strawberry crepes to share, 1 extra side of garlic bread & 1 coleslaw. He pops it in the hand held p.o.s. He confirms our order. The food came out in 10 mins. Only 4 entrees, no side of coleslaw, garlic bread & no crepes. He tells us he couldn't fit them on the tray & he will be right back. You guessed it... Now we get the crepes & coleslaw, no Xtra garlic bread side. Most of us are already finished when he serves the missing dishes & the fries weren't even hot (probably sat in window too long). There wasn't a sufficient amount as well. I could see the emptiness on plate. No table check, so I could tell him. At this point I want our check, not our refills we asked for over 15 mins. ago. I'm not going to even try to ask for to-go boxes. When we asked about the Xtra garlic bread side he got smug & said there was one on the dish & that we didn't order a second one, we did. Never B.S. someone who has worked every position in restaurants all their life. Shouldn't even B.S. any guest. Here's the icing on the cake. He gives us the hand held p.o.s. shows exactly where the tip buttons we're. As I close my payment, he noticed there wasn't a tip filled. Oh he makes sure I know (now he's attentive, hovering over us). I tell him we tip in cash. I hated to do it but Christmas spirit & all I leave a $10 bill on a $82 bill. Alright already this is way too long of a...
Read moreAlways meet here to eat with my Grandma. Never really had an issue until last Sunday when we waited 30 minutes to have our order taken....after waiting, waiting, and waiting some more, I decided to get up and ask the hostess to send someone over because we had been waiting so long. No apologies or anything. I don't recall wearing my invisible cloak that day...my Grandma and I brushed it off and just figured we were seated in an unassigned section. However, I find it odd how many servers and bussers passed us over and over again without think to themselves "hey these folks have been waiting here awhile with only their menus...maybe I should figure out what's wrong?" . Anyway, our server came over to our table and apoligized and explained that there was a section issue, which is what I figured was the case. She was very nice. However, understandably we were thirsty, its August in Chicago and my Grandma is 81 years old. Took 10 minutes to receive our drinks. I understand that restaurants get crazy busy, as I worked in the i industry for 6 years but we waited for wayyy too long!!! I didn't make a big deal because I find myself very sympathetic towards workers in that position, but at this point I expected some sort of discount without a doubt. Finished my food, received my bill and no discount. Not being cheap but I thought it was very rude. I didn't say anything of course. I had a coupon that expired2 days before and decided to ask the hostess if she would honor the coupon and apply it to my bill. (She was the same person who sat us and then didn't apologize or show genunine concern when I asked her to send over a server to take our order). So after asking her if she could honor it her response, "Only if it's still good". I was very offended by the tone of her answer and lack of concern for me as a customer. I visit this location about every two to three months to see my Grandma. However, I was deeply insulted with the lack of concern and I hope the customer service and attentiveness will improve if I ever return to...
Read moreI live near this location so came in one summer to treat myself for my birthday to their amazing stir fry chicken pita. I was in a great mood and my waitress was a young thin brunette who seems to work the window area. It took her 15 mns to greet. me and 30 mns to bring out my order. She never stopped to say “ I’ll be right with you” or “sorry for the wait”. When I got my food it wasn’t how I ordered it, swimming with onions when I asked for none. I believe I asked for the fries on a separate plate and they weren’t, and something about the teriyaki sauce not being on the side. When I told her kindly the issue, after she hadn’t stopped by to even check if it was ok, she forcefully grabbed it away from me in anger..and never apologized. So then I waited again for the correct order which was taking so long I had to get up and ask for it at the counter! The manager brought it out finally but still no one checked if it was ok. I then needed a to-go container and sat with the meal in front of me for another 15 mns waiting for the waitress to notice and come by..she never did so I then had to go to the counter AGAIN to get my own container and pay my bill… of course NO TIP! I have no idea what the problem with this waitress was, but as a past waitress myself, I ALWAYS tip 20%,and even round UP, if the server was excellent, but this was absolutely unacceptable. I have never been treated like that before..EVER!! This past week I brought my 83 year old mother and had a pleasant young man as our waiter, Henry I believe. This same past young brunette waitress decided she wanted to bring out our pie and bag and SLAMMED it angrily on our table startling my senior mother who is on blood pressure medication. This waitress should not be allowed to bully customers like this! Someone needs to provide her the proper training and etiquette for...
